La la la- I'm not lithening- la la la
Wonder why it was sold at the Dollar Store? Time for a re-read.
Horns is my favorite so far, then NOS4A2
Just found From a Buick 8 at a used book shop and The Talisman + Rose Madder at a Library sale ....all hardcovers (1st editions too) for about $7 total. These weren't high on my list to read immediately but always glad to add to the library
Just came back from a used bookstore and came home with:
1st Printing hardback of The Ruins by Scott Smith. (have an ARC in my collection but for some reason never had the actual book)
1st printing paperback of The Last Tomb (aka Easy Go) by John Lange (Michael Crichton's non-de-plume)
1st printing paperback in mint condition of Infinity Three- a sci-fi anthology that has an original Dean Koontz short story in called Altarboy (and I'm sure it contains no mention of a supernaturally gifted Golden Retriever or bourganvillae anywhere).
I just picked up a first printing first edition hardcover of Peter Straub's The Throat for 75 cents.
A while back, someone else posted a dollar store "Horns" find-I kept looking, but no luck...Then last week I found 3! Hardcovers, too-I feel a tad bit selfish for buying 3, but in my defense, I'll be giving 2 away. I guess I don't feel so bad after all, maybe I'll go back today and see if they got another shipment!
Which Dollar Stores usually carry it? We have a Dollar General Market real close, and then we have the usual old fashioned Dollar Store but it's a little farther off...
This one was just called The Dollar Store. We don't have any Dollar General Markets here. Good luck!!
Just picked up F13 for 95 cents. Eager to see what it's like. I remember seeing it when it was new and being curious. Started another thread for discussing it after I fire it up.
Stopped at a dollar store called Dollar Tree and they had "Horns" there also!
.89 The Andromeda Strain
.50 first signet print 1993 The Wastelands, it might not be the first print of the story but it’s a print before 1999 so it’s good enough for me.
1985 Plume: A collection of Bachman 4 stories “rage”, ”the long walk”, “roadwork”, “The running man” for $ 5.99.
1997 plume: “wizard and glass” $ 5.99
1987 plume: “the Drawing of the Three” illustrated by Phil Hale $5.99
2001 Ballantine Book: “the Talisman” $ 3.99
Got a first printing copy of Joe Hill's NOS4A2 that looks like it's never been read for $2.
I've been looking for that one Thrill of the hunt beats Amazon most of the time. My kids have started a running list of books we'll be looking for at the annual library booksale madhouse this summer--NOS4A2 is on the top.
Don't know how relevant this is but a real find was Cries unheard by Gitta Sereny. A shaking story of the murder of a child by another child. Afamous case once in Britain. If you're at all interested in true crime books that one is to be recommended. Based on interviews with the former murderess, now grownup and has a new name. The Author manages to hold balance so it doesn't fall over in a defense or something like that. Found it for just approximately 3 US dollars in a second hand book shop in Stockholm. A very good buy.
Got a physical paperback copy of Christine! I had the Ebook before but never got around to it.
OK, been kind of slack on putting my 'finds' in here lately, so here goes:
Bought a 1st/1st hardback from thriftbooks.com of T.E.D. Klein's The Ceremonies which should be arriving today. Had this in my collection years ago but donated it when I moved. Wish he wrote more! He used to be the editor of Twilight Zone magazine. Today I bought a paperback of John Dunning's (he of the 'Bookman' thrillers) The Holland Suggestions. I really like his 'Bookman' novels and highly recommend them to everyone and have begun to track down his older books. Anyone know where I can find a 1st/1st hardback of 'Denver'?
