I do have a first/first of the Firestarter paperback with the statement on the white cover "From the Author of The Dead Zone and Cujo" on it. It's the only one I've ever seen. I paid $47 for it a few years ago.

That's interesting. I thought all of them only said 'By The Author Of The Dead Zone' on them? Now I'll have to check all of them when I find them in the thrift stores!! Arrrrggghhhh!!!!

Sure. If it belongs in a different spot, I can move it after I see what it is.

Night be a bookclub edition. It's gotta have a price printed on the inside front flap at the top.

Score! I'm having a hard time finding Lisey's Story hardcover. I did find it in the antique mall, but it was $10, so I passed. I might snatch it up if it's still there this weekend. They were selling the Trade PB of Under the Dome used for $35.

My latest Goodwill score is a external frame backpack for hiking and camping. 15 bucks in choice condition. The book section in a couple close to me leave so much to be desired; not alphabetised or in any order, could have dvds or movies thrown in on the shelves. I really want to tip the shelves empty, then reshelve according to author, or at least loosely by category.

It is best if I stay out of them all together.

But without the price on the cover, it's probably a book club edition. Alternatively, someone could have put a book club jacket on the first printing book, but why?

There are bookclub editions out there that I have seen of The Dead Zone and Firestarter that are EXACTLY the same as the Viking editions except that they DON'T have a price printed on the dj's. They had the same exact look to them, everything was the same except for that one little detail. I have seen most of the later King novels in the same manner, minus the price. That is the ONLY way to tell that they are bookclub editions (also most of the bookclub editions use a thinner paper for the pages). We're just trying to help....

The only differences between the book club edition and the trade edition of Black House is the lack of price and the lettering on the book spine is gold on the book club edition rather than the silver of the priced trade edition.

I see them all the time at our local Savers. Unless it's considered collectible, hardback books are @2.99/ea. Want me to pick you up a copy next time I see one?
