Score!! I haven't found that one anywhere except a local antique mall for $15. I just can't do it, I'm determined to get it at a better price.
Keep looking, you're bound to find it somewhere. I also scored on the 'Collector's Edition' that was published by Scribner and had the little box of cards that depicted the characters in the book which I found on Amazon Marketplace- brand new, never read, still sealed- paid all of $12.95 with shipping included! KEEP LOOKING!!

Very cool kingricefan! You never know what you may find at Goodwill. I've plucked some books from there several times.

I picked up a couple of nice books from a high school book sale recently. This was one of those 40,000+ books on sale, all donations, "not picked through", with no early entrance fee, sales. Unfortunately, I couldn't get there until an hour or so after it opened so who knows what awesome stuff I missed out on. But I found some stuff. These are the best of my haul. $3 for each.

JDM's first hardcover bestseller (1975), first edition & Jeffrey Archer's first book (1976), also first edition

Two first edition Arbor House Mystery/Suspense anthologies from the early 80's (edited by Pronzini and Greenberg, who else!)

Frank Darabont's Walpuski's Typewriter, Cemetery Dance, trade edition

I also got some Fletch and Bond paperbacks in good condition, and Joe Hill's 20th Century Ghosts (trade HC). It was a good day. :)

Today the mailman delievered a really nice hardback copy of The Grapes Of Wrath by John Steinbeck. It's an 8th printing, and the dust jacket is in decent shape, not price clipped, not faded out on the spine and the colors elsewhere are still bright! Paid $24 on Ebay!! Woot!!
The colors were painted with the blood of kittens. (and turtles.)

Hastings was running a 3 for $21 sale on used hardbacks, I got

Trail of the Spellmans, Spellman Files #5,

The Last Word, Spellman Files #6, both Spellman Files books by Lisa Lutz. I love these books, they are funny and these two were missing from my set.

And, The River of No Return, a debut novel by Bee Ridgway. Sounded good, and I liked the cover. ;-D

All in excellent condition. I was happy with my haul today. :)

Today I came home with a 1st printing hardback of Fireflies by David Morrell. It's the real story of him losing his 15 year old son to a rare form of bone cancer. On the inside front flap is this: "Dear David,
Fireflies left me feeling shaken, uplifted, and terribly moved. I don't think you've ever written a better book in your life. The book was intensely readable, and the flow of language was up to your usual quality. You are to be congratulated for your courage and for succeeding so splendidly. It is a complete success.
Stephen King"
I have read this book before and it is a lovely and heart breaking story.
