A first edition LAST NIGHT AT TWISTED RIVER (John Irving). It's the only one of his that I didn't have in hardcover. Even though I didn't like it that much the first time I read it, I knew I'd kick myself if I didn't get it. I'm beginning to think having favorite authors is a mental illness--lol.

This is so close to reality for me--I have full shelves in every room of the house but 1 bathroom, and I keep buying more. What I really need is a library (NOTE TO SELF: "Hurry oldest out of the house so I can have his room for books" ;D)
Make sure that the beams in the basement can hold up all of that book weight!!

Thats depressing. I usually find at least one king thing I haven't got when i go.No matter how much room I have,I always need more.
Oh, I find books but it a matter of do I really need them, you know? If I wanted to I could spend alot of bucks on ones I want, but just don't really need or have to have right now. I want to get my John Grisham collection going again (of his older works) and have no trouble finding them but just can't seem to make myself buy them right now.

You are more than welcome to have mine if you want it. I really only need three copies of every SK novel. One hardcover for the bookshelf and two paperbacks (in case I misplace one) for reading on the road. Of course I need to keep buying them, as a first edition always replaces my older bookclub copies, and when I come across a paperback in better shape than the ones I have, or find a paperback in a different cover so I don’t look like a loon for having two identical copies. (hmmm, that rationale sounds better in my head than it does written down). The rest I give away to others who will appreciate them or can’t afford them.

Outstanding! I didn't think anyone was as meshuggah as me
I just have the two copies of SK novels - hardback for home & paperback for travelling.

Double outstanding for having multiple copies to introduce to friends - I do the same, but with other authors.
I don't think I've ever persuaded anyone to read SK :(, but I do discover that old friends have been SK fans for years, but staying schtum.

The UK equivalent of thrift stores/Goodwill are charity shops - because they exist to raise funds for charities.

If you look like a loon for having two identical copies, so do I:)
Sounds like your books are much-loved friends- plus you have a generous spirit.
Bring it on - the world needs more loons like you!

My find on the latest trip was the illustrated edition of 'Salem's Lot. I'm still trying to complete my collection, so I have a list of books (from the website) stored in my phone so I can check them off when I find them. I have been adding a few random King books not written by him- the second quiz book, Haunted Heart, The SK Illustrated Companion... Quite frankly I can't bring myself to buy any books at full price so used bookstores are my best friends! I have found the odd King book tucked away in antique/junk stores as well. I have a mix of hard and soft back, but try to have the series or pairs of books from the same publisher and such so they "match". My best find was probably a matching set of hardback Desperation and the Regulators for under $5 for both.

Keep on looking. You just might get lucky sometime and find one of those rare Bachman paperbacks. I have found all of them but Rage at thrift stores over the years. My heart always skips a beat when I do! Nothing like finding a King treasure at thrift stores or a used bookstore!!

OK, finally scored on some books! Found an unread beautiful hardback 1st printing of Prime Evil, which has King's Night Flyer story in it, along with lots of other gems from some important authors in the field of horror. Also found a real nice hardback of Fannie Flagg's Can't Wait To Get To Heaven and a nice hardback of Prey by Michael Crichton! Paid $1.99 for each of them! SCORE!

I have been trying to get Mr. Tolkien's The Hobbit, but of course the movie has just come out (the three part movie being made from a three hundred page book, must be spot on lol) and they don't have any copies from HPB, where I get all my books from. So I re-bought The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower, because apparently when you take books to read that isn't from the library to school, they get destroyed x3 so all my thrift books/all my books are staying home for now on. Damn grade school.

Who destroys them, Elijah? The school? If so, this doesn't seem like a very nice thing to do. It's not a real great way to promote reading for young people. You might look into seeing if there's a way to reverse this policy if it is something the school does. Doesn't make sense to me why there should be this type of policy in a school. I always had a book with me when I was in school, so did alot of friends.

If I'm correct, that was sarcasm xD I started to think about it and I can either make sure the people (kids there, not the school) that destroy the property/portable magic return it... that, or I could use telekinesis at the dance and... well... I'll have to think about it.
