So, the copy of The Exorcist is up for grabs to the first SKMB member in the US who wants it! The bad-gunky stuff has happened and I am not keeping this book in my house! I was involved in a hit-and-run today (I'm fine!) but my red car, my pride and joy, has been damaged. The *sshat was driving a Cherokee and I pulled up behind him in a parking lot (I always leave plenty of room between myself and the cars in front of me in case someone can't stop in time and hits me from behind) with about 1 1/2 car lenths between us. He was waiting for some workers to finish what they were doing in the lot as he couldn't drive around them. So, after waiting for about a minute he decides to just shove his car in reverse and guns it. I had just enough time to slam my hand down on my horn before he slammed into me. Hit so hard and fast that he ended up ON TOP of my hood! I know the damage doesn't look all that bad, it could have been worse, but it just makes me so d*mn mad that this idiot is out on the road. So, after he gets off of my car he gets out, comes back to me (I'm already on the phone with 911) and say 'I didn't see you.' I said 'I was honking my horn.' Him-'I didn't hear you.' Me- 'Obviously!' Then, while I'm talking to the 911 dispatcher, he bolts back to his Cherokee and speeds off. Got his plate number so now he's up for a felony (leaving the scene of an accident). Ruined my day, week, month! Now I have to deal with all the insurance/repair crap!

I just got finished getting the car repainted a couple of months ago!!!!
I'M NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow - sorry to hear this - hope the ********* gets charged and has to pay for the repairs out of his insurance (this is assuming he even HAS insurance!).

Thanks! It's in the hands of the insurance company now. I take the car in on the 9th for repairs. Isn't going to cost me a dime either- they're putting it under 'uninsured motorist' and I have no deductable on that category.

skimom2 So... what'd ya score at the library sale?
She's probably busy renting a storage unit to keep 'em all in!! ;-D

SO. MANY. BOOKS. I haven't even sorted or counted them all, but our first trip was 25 books and one movie for $14, then my daughter and I went back for the last hour when you can fill a bag for $1. I haven't even looked at those yet--lol. There have to be at least another 25-30 books. Mark doesn't know about those ones yet--he's gonna kill me, because we have NO shelf space left at all already. I say it's good incentive to get hopping on my new, big bookshelf in the living room :)

My favorite: I found a HB copy of Rumbelow's The Complete Jack the Ripper! I couldn't believe how much they wanted for it online, but I can do pennies :D Oh, and there's a lovely, early 20th century HB of O. Henry's stories, with the foreword in Russian. That was a nice add, too. I have to get sorting tonight, and then I'll know for sure what I have :)

Super cool!! I have an old collection to O. Henry's. I love him! Did you know there's an O. Henry short story prize every year and they put the contenders in a collection. I used to get them every year.

Bookshelf space - have you tried stacking them under your end tables? That's where I'm at. And on each side of the lamps on the night stands in my bedroom. We have an old dresser that I'd really like to do this to:

It would be a great bookcase.

When you run out of bookcases there are always floating bookshelves! And you can stack ALOT of books on those things!

Yup, they're stacked everywhere. The shelf in my room is one of the smaller ones, so I might have to upgrade to something larger. I also have an antique armoire that's been airing since we brought it home from my mom's last December. It was stored in her garage where people smoked, and it stank to high hell. It's finally getting better inside--I can stand to open it--so I might consider seeing if there'a a way to put books in there (besides stacking them on the floor).

I am SO out of shelves. Books are double stacked, as I try to figure out where to put another bookcase :dejection:
Do you have high ceilings? Or perhaps cathedral ones? If so, you can use the space up above a doorway or close to the ceilings to place a bookshelf or two. It's wasted space up there as far as I'm concerned. I have four shelves I have placed up above (I have cathedral ceilings) and it has given me lots more room for my beloved books. But, I, too, am running out of space for those books.....
