I ordered Joe Hill's Horns online a week and half ago - already have a hardcover first edition, but it was in very good condition and a great price (I do this sometimes when I can because I can always gift them to others). I've been hoping to luck out again like I did with Heart-Shaped Box - got a signed first edition! Well, believe it or not, it arrived in the mail today and it IS a signed first edition!! JH even doodled a little devil on the title page above his signature! I'm so happy and blessed. Been having a hard time lately and I am so grateful for the ray of sunshine.

:m_excited:
You always have the best luck with Joe's titles!!

Well, took a three day trip to Seattle to visit family and do alittle thriftstore/used bookstore shopping. Came home with an unread paperback of Under The Dome Part 1 (already had Part 2), an unread larger Scribner 1st paperback reprint (2012) of Black House, a nice paperback of Deadline by John Dunning, an unread paperback original of The Year's Best Horror Stories IX (contains The Monkey by you-know-who), a nice hardback copy of Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh and an unread beautiful ARC of The Damnation Game by Clive Barker.

Nice!!

More fifties horror comics. A Harvey Horrors 'Softie'--five newsprint facsimile reprints (complete with gaudy, shiny covers, ads, etc.), bound in one cool trade PB. This one is Witches Tales, 6 - 10. Some really weird, cruel stuff. Before they were the home of Richie Rich and Casper, Harvey did some of the goriest comics of the pre-code era, Witches Tales, Chamber of Chills, Tomb of Terror, Black Cat. These 'Softies' are anything but--and cheap. Gettin em used, five to ten bucks a pop.

Rottin my brain with these nasty funnybooks, gonna wind up stealing cars and getting in knife fights.

Very envious over here.
I just love those unsettling oldies but goldies!!!

When I was in Vancouver this time I finally got to see McLeod's Used Books

MacLeod’s Books - 16 Photos - Bookstores - Downtown - Vancouver, BC - Reviews - Yelp

Wow! As soon as I walked in I thought of skimom2 . Think she was the one that said she likes
bookshops where there are piles of books everywhere. Take a look at the website listed above;
it has 16 pictures.

So, I found a brand new HC of Revival for $5.00(it has never even be opened :jammin: ) and also found
Salem's Lot Illustrated Edition for $7.00 and it is like new. Found 3 books on WWII I had been looking for and a HC on
Kings and Queens of England. Really pleased. My daughter dragged me out of there after only 3 hours!
Going back (without my daughter) next time

Heck, that's my house--lol. I do love bookstores like that! We had one for years in our town, but then the owner wanted to retire and his buyer was more interested in gaming crap and comics. I was very sad when he got rid of all the books and changed the name. Thanks for the great link!

Scored today, all hardcovers, $2/each:
Under the Dome (Morgan - have you already sent this to me?)
The Gunslinger (I only ever had a paperback that got lost a while back)
Mr. Mercedes (can you believe it? I've been thinking recently that I need to get with the program and read this asap!)
Further Under the Duvet (Marian Keyes essays and shorts)
Anybody Out There? (Marian Keyes)
Sushi for Beginners (Marian Keyes)
The Bride Groom (Ha Jin short story collection - I'm mad for a short story collection -have read Ha Jin before, a good writer)

It was crowded and I was on my lunch break. I will be back. What I left: The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Cujo, Dreamcatcher - all hardcover, I didn't make it to the paperbacks yet. Anyone want any of those 3 if they're still there?

No Owen King or Joe Hill or Tabitha King at all :(

The Gunslinger was a great find! Good for you

You could hide yourself amid the books and read all day. Anyways, looks like a nice bookstore.

Very nice! The Gypsy In Amber cover reminds me of the Thinner cover.
