Over our hiatus I found a full set of the paperback originals in the M.I.A. Hunter series written by 'Jack Buchanan', three of which were written/co-written by Joe Lansdale. There's 11 volumes in the set and the spines aren't even cracked! Previous owner's name written in the front of each one, but these babies are hard to find, especially in a complete set! paid .89 cents for each one!

Congrats on the great score!

On last Goodwill expedition I garnered some choice gems. Dig:

Two 70s Berkley hardback Robert E. Howards, The Hour of the Dragon, and People of the Black Circle.

Two Fritz Leiber Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser books, Swords in the Mist, and The Knight and Knave of Swords.

Ray Bradbury's A Medicine For Melancholy

The Piranhas,
Harold Robbins

And some other goodies I can't remember.

Today I came home with a brand new unopened bluray of Edward Scissorhands. Goodwill $3.99.
I found an Edward Scissorhands DVD somewhere this past year and haven't watched it yet (haven't seen the movie in years). Let me know when you watch it and I will too! We can have a movie night! I think that would be such fun - maybe others will want to join in as well. We could watch other films in the future (especially SK movies! :) ) and have a movie club! :m_applause:

Today the mailman delivered the 1st in a series of paperback originals called Michael Sheriff: The Shield- African Assignment written by 'Preston MacAdam', which is a pseudonym of Michael McDowell's. I'm not a reader of Vietnam/Military books but in glancing thru the pages it looks like it's going to be another great McDowell read! Got it from thriftbooks.com

I've had three bad experiences with them in a row now. Items not at all as described. Two paperbacks I wanted to give someone for Christmas that were listed as VG/like new and are barely acceptable. This has happened to me in the past and they've partially refunded me, but I'm too depressed to even do anything about it now because I'll never get those books by Christmas (they were the last two paperbacks I needed in the DT series to complete the set I've been working on most of the year to give to a friend).

I'm sorry this happened. I've had really good luck with them, there's only been two orders that were messed up and both times they refunded me the cost of the book. I would contact them and see if you can get your refund.

No need to be sorry! There are much worse things to deal with than this. I think I was so morose because they were for a gift (if they were just for me, no biggie!). And, as my mom would say, I've had the mulligrubs today, which is why I was being such a downer!

Yesterday I received a first edition hardcover of Peter Straub's Floating Dragon in the mail. Ordered from Amazon. Have only ever seen the BCE of this one; was shocked it was a first! (Only paid $.01 and $3.99 for shipping)
I loved that book. I've also read Ghost Story, Mystery, Koko, and Shadowland. And The Talisman, of course. That's awesome.

Today the mailman delivered a very nice copy of the second installment of Michael McDowell's Blackwater series The Levee. It was the last volume I needed to complete my set and I might start a re-read tonight. It's been years since I read this series and I loved it before! I also found this little gem at Goodwill today- an autographed 1st hardback printing of 'My Lives by Roseanne Arnold' aka Roseanne Barr. It even had an article cut out from the local paper in Federal Way, Washington talking about Roseanne's visit to a local Fred Meyer's for the book signing and the article even mentions her using a gold pen to sign the books. $1.99 at Goodwill!
