Swung by the Goodwill today, on a whim, and Blam! Got a handful right away:

HB The Witching Hour by Crazy Anne. This is one of her best, and I can't wait to re-read it.

HB first edition Laird Koenig's The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane. I kinda remember the movie, never read the book.

PB Camus' The Stranger

PB Mad Magazine compilation of Al Jaffe strips.

And finally found me a replacement copy of Night Shift. Good deal, haven't read these tales in ages.

Five bucks.

Today the mailman delivered a very nice signed hardback 1st printing of Mad Dog Summer And Other Stories by Joe Lansdale (his ownself). Thriftbooks.com described it as being in 'good' condition when I ordered it, but I don't think it's been read more than once and everything looks near fine to me!

I stopped my favorite book store where all the proceeds go to the library. It's only opened a couple days a week, so I don't get there often but they have an enormous selection of books.

I found an extremely well cared for first edition of Elmore Leonard's Killshot

Also, I found a pristine copy of Everything's Eventual to replace the one I had. I bought the book new way back when and the binding was bad and the book practically fell apart by the time I finished reading it. I think Achtung said he had one of these too. Anyway, the one I found is in perfect condition.

Nice haul. Good for you!! Still looking for The Witching Hour and 2 sequels to it. Last time I was in used book stores
around here I found out that some are not accepting HC's anymore because they just don't sell. All paperbooks in
several stores now.

Today I stopped at Goodwill on the way home from work (the little book-finding voice in the back of my head was speaking and said 'Go!')and came home with a first paperback printing of The Amulet by Michael McDowell (his very 1st novel) and a 1st hardback printing of The Forgotten Village by John Steinbeck sans the dust jacket. For a book published in 1941 it's in d*mn fine shape!

Sweet Mother Of Books! I just came home from Goodwill where I scored a really nice hardback 1st printing of Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice!!! It's been read and the dustjacket has a few minor issues (price-clipped) and the Bottom edges of the pages have a red Knopf stamp on them (which means it must have been a remainder copy), but overall for $1.99 it's a true 'find'! If only I could score a 1st of Carrie now.....

Wow, I am so jealous! I have been trying over 2 years to find a HB of The Witching Hour. (But I hope you
enjoy it as much the second time round :):))

Found myself trapped in a thriftstore today...... since i am in a cosy mystery mood at the moment (read 3 Ngaio Marsh recently) i bought 3 Margery Allingham, 1 Marsh, 1 Cornell Woolrich (aka William Irish) and 2 books of an author I never heard but i liked the premise, Jane Austen is the detective and has to interrupt her writings to solve a murder. They are just a shot in the dark but sounded interesting . Also a Ridley Person and a Ross MacDonald. 1 dollar each. Pearson and macdonald was even 50 cent! Thought that was rather a good buy!
