Yeah was really chuffed. Went in one day and picked up IT and Eyes Of The Dragon then a few days later my girlfriend suggested we go in and check again to which I replied nah they won't have a stash of King books in the storeroom just waiting to be sold. Went in and I looked like an idiot as a pristine copy of The Stand was sitting there:) I assume it was a house clearing as the books look like they have just been printed so would seem strange for someone to keep them in such good condition to then donate them to charity.
You were "chuffed" eh? Well I would be, too!

I scored big-big today! First I found a nice 1st printing hardback of Jurassic Park at Goodwill. Then went to a used bookstore and found a decent 4th printing od the trade paperback of The Bachman Books, a real nice hardback copy of State Of Fear by Michael Crichton and a 1st printing paperback of Looking For Ginger North by John Dunning (the writer of the wonderful 'Bookman' novels)- all three for less than $8!

0308141643-00.jpg Grabbed these today, they had a LOT more left but you can't get it all in the first run I guess lol. Very hard to pick and choose though! I have a ton of Dean Koontz books I have to take to her and trade in though, hope that brings some sweet deals!!

I feel like I've found a home with all ya'll who love thrifting for books like I do. Every time we are out of town, for business or pleasure, I make it my mission to find the thrift stores and look for books. The family thinks I'm insane - they'll drop me off and go get some fast food while I browse. Wouldn't a road trip doing this together be so much? Just drive across the country looking for books.

Yes, it would be! That would be super fun! I'm from Hickory, NC and we haven't visited in years but I cannot WAIT to get back there, remembering all the Goodwill/thrift stores they had, not to mention some great book stores. Makes me want to take a road trip just to go book hunting, lol. Nothing beats that feeling, the suspense as you browse through the books anxiously waiting to see those two magic words SK pop up. Very exciting!!!

State Of Fear is one of my favorite non-SK books! Very nice KRF!! :smile-new:

I would love to have a road trip like that! Awesome fun! But, we would probably fight over the King books, eh? Haha! Whenever I take my trips to Seattle to visit family I always go thrifting. Did you know that there is a huge, and I mean HUGE, booksale every year that takes place somewhere in the midwest? It covers acres of ground! Can you imagine? That would be my idea of heaven......

I would love to go on a road trip just checking out everyone elses king collections.
OH me too! Wouldn't a TV show featuring the book shelves of interesting people be a great idea? Of course, it helps if they are SK fans, but I'm just so nosy about what people have on their shelves. I'm so discerning about what's on mine. We need to do another bookshelfie thread.

Our library system has a big book sale every August, and we haven't missed a year in ages. Kids are already making their lists of what they want to look for, and planning how to get there/get the best books first. They joked last year that they look forward to it as much as Christmas--we all laughed, but it's not far from the truth :)

It's great to see that you have passed on a love for books to them!
