Bought The Quickie by James Patterson at the used bookstore (3 books for $1.00! ). This will be my first time reading anything by him.

I prefer his older books. Not the books written by other authors and then handed to him for a quick overview so he can add his name to them.Bought The Quickie by James Patterson at the used bookstore (3 books for $1.00! ). This will be my first time reading anything by him.
This actually happens???!I prefer his older books. Not the books written by other authors and then handed to him for a quick overview so he can add his name to them.
Most of the books that he's 'written' in the past 10 years have a co-author. I enjoyed his Alex Cross books, but I stopped reading them after he started using a co-writer with those also. This actually happens???!
I was just discussing this topic with Leppy. I agree with you.I prefer his older books. Not the books written by other authors and then handed to him for a quick overview so he can add his name to them.
I didn't know it was permissible to switch covers, good to know.Just came home with an autographed 1st hardback of Prey by Michael Crichton from Goodwill. $1.99! The dust jacket is in poor shape but I can switch it out with my other perfect copy, then donate the unsigned one. Used to have all of Crichton's books autographed but sold them off when I moved to Spokane 9 years ago. Wish I still had them all. His death was another one that rocked me as he was only about 10 years older than me and I thought he'd be around forever.
When the covers are exactly the same, it is. But, to switch, let's say, a perfect dust jacket from a 5th printing of East Of Eden with a crappy 1st printing one is not, as they have differences such as Steinbeck's picture being on the back of the 1st printing and blurbs about the book and no picture on the 5th printing.I didn't know it was permissible to switch covers, good to know.
....niiiiiiiice.....Stopped by Goodwill on the way home from work today. Found two signed books! I'm sending the Burt Reynolds to my sister in Texas and keeping the Madeleine Albright for my collection:

I read that Burt one. I was so bummed with it. I've heard him in various places tell stories, and they are so interesting. He didn't put one damn interesting story in the book.Stopped by Goodwill on the way home from work today. Found two signed books! kingricefan - my dad was a stamp collector eons ago. I don't have his collection as he gave it to his brother. Maybe this link will provide some info or get you started.Came home with this today. I haven't read this title yet so snatched it up. Inside was this envelope. I'm not a stamp collector so don't know anything about what it might be worth. Anyone have an idea?

I just checked ebay. It's not worth much. Prices go from $.99-8.95. Oh well, he's a favorite author so I'm happy to have it in my collection.kingricefan - my dad was a stamp collector eons ago. I really liked it. Better than the movie, as they usually are.I got The Martian by Andy Weir last week. The cover has a picture of Matt Damon. I really liked the film, anyone read the book?
