I think I voted for Cell earlier in this thread, but now I'm thinking it's The Colorado Kid. It was such a small book, and the cover had absolutely nothing to do with the story (pet peeve), and the ending was unresolved... and I really admire the hell out of it. The more time passes since I read it, the more I realize that I think about it a lot. Short fiction is difficult, but Mr. King tics every box with this one.

Danse Macabre. It's hardly on anyone's Top Ten list, but I've read this one more times than I can remember--I freakin love it. Uncle Stevie has a way of explaining the horror genre that's as humorous as it is informative. Reading this one always feels like I'm sitting by a campfire, or in a comfortable smoking parlor, listening to the King tell it like it is.

It's on my top ten list.
it's also good to flick through and read chunks of here and there, doesn't matter too much where you start. King mentions so many films and books I've never even heard of...such good background and research and an inner library within.

It is on my top 10 also. Own the book, own the audio. Love it.

I think The Eyes of the Dragon..it is passed off as a children's book, but there are some adult themes and scary moments, and introduces us to Randall Flagg in his earliest form..also,always hoped for the two questers to have another story by SK,maybe not,but if he can write for his kids, maybe one for the grandkids? hopehope.. :grinning:

I agree - I think that would be a perfect book to give to someone who thinks that all Stephen King writes is horror.
