I didn't care for Duma Key until my most recent re-read and now it's definitely in my top 10!Duma KEY!!!! I loved it don't understand the hate. Joyland was great too for the record.
I think you are right, the origins of the name are mentioned in the book. Forgot about that!!From the Wikipedia article:
Cujo's name was based on the nom de guerre of Willie Wolfe, one of the men responsible for orchestrating Patty Hearst's kidnapping and indoctrination into the Symbionese Liberation Army.
I'm almost positive this is referenced in the actual book, too, but it's been years since I've read it.
it's also good to flick through and read chunks of here and there, doesn't matter too much where you start. King mentions so many films and books I've never even heard of...such good background and research and an inner library within.Danse Macabre. It's hardly on anyone's Top Ten list, but I've read this one more times than I can remember--I freakin love it. Uncle Stevie has a way of explaining the horror genre that's as humorous as it is informative. Reading this one always feels like I'm sitting by a campfire, or in a comfortable smoking parlor, listening to the King tell it like it is.

Not to upset your apple cart, but I am pretty sure Go Ask Alice isn't an underrated SK bookGo Ask Alice, have just been reading this, old but so well written. So sad.
Oh sorry! I sometimes do that too (my Mom used to say I would lose my head if it wasn't screwed on!)Yes you are quite right, Neesy. I was in a rush when I wrote it (as usual!!) and thought I was in the What have you been reading lately thread!! Apologies and I will slow down. have an awesome weekend!! Tans
I agree - I think that would be a perfect book to give to someone who thinks that all Stephen King writes is horror.I think The Eyes of the Dragon..it is passed off as a children's book, but there are some adult themes and scary moments, and introduces us to Randall Flagg in his earliest form..also,always hoped for the two questers to have another story by SK,maybe not,but if he can write for his kids, maybe one for the grandkids? hopehope..
