I really like (most) of Tan's novels! Didn't much care for her fourth one, something about fishes in the title, but the first three I loved! Wish I still had my signed 1st printing of Joy Luck Club....

Saving Fish from Drowning ended up being a tribe that worshipped
a stephen king book. Can't remember which one it is.

Yep, that's the one! A group of elderly folk go on a hike and get taken in for spying, if I remember right.

What on earth did you do with your signed first edition of Joy Luck Club? I wish you still had it too.

When I decided to move across the state, I had to unload alot of books or else I would have had to rent another truck just for the books. All of my 1st editions (signed!) of Tan (even her two kid's books), Simmons, Lansdale, alot of Koontz's later titles, David Morrell (all signed), all of Michael Crichton's books from Andromeda Strain on up to Prey (all signed!), had all James Patterson's signed (sold those at Half Price Books where Pats works!), too many to remember now. But, I did find a signed mint copy of The Hundred Secret Senses at a Goodwill after I moved and also at the Goodwill here in Spokane I found a signed leather bound Franklin Library edition of The Hundred Secret Senses that I paid $2.99 for! That Goodwill also had three Michael Crichton signed leather bound Franklin Mint novels (the first two Jurassic novels) that I also snatched up! They actually had about 20 of the Franklin Library books there but I only had enough cash for the four that I bought. Wish I had bought all of them!! I am slowly getting alot of the books back into my collection again. It takes time and $$! By the way, Amy Tan is so-o freaking funny in person!

If you like Terry Pratchet try Robert Rankin. Not the crime writer though its strange fantasy a bit like terry prachet but in the real world. I would recomend the voodoo handbag for starters. I also like Robert Ludlum. I also like adult comics v for vendetta is probably the best one ive read. Also the sandman comics by Neil Gaiman are realy cool

Thanks for that, I haven't read any of Rankin's. I love Ludlum too and can't believe I left him off my list, it's been a long time since I read one of his.

I just remembered T.C. Boyle - does anyone else enjoy reading his stuff? The first book of his that I read was The Road to Wellville. I thought it was hysterical, I was shocked to learn it was based on the real story of the Kellogs. Just craziness. I still haven't seen the movie. And then I got a collection of his short stories:

Mine has a burgundy cover though. And just while I was looking this up, I saw he has so many other collections, so I am going to order one. He's got quite an eclectic style and his stories can be so surreal, but I enjoy them so much.

I've read many of his books. The short stories can be wild... Never really wanted to own his books though.
