I recently read Hearts in Atlantis and am obsessed. I figure this is where people come to get as close as possible to getting answers they want straight from Steven King himself. Since reading Hearts in Atlantis a question I've had has really been bothering me. Im hoping someone would have maybe had the same question and also has an answer. Carol Gerber is constant through every part of the book. Every person seems to have loved her or be in love with her, and never forget about her. Even Willie, who almost seems obsessive out of guilt over Carol. Each of them experience her in their life in what seems to be a dramatic way like Peter Riley, and obviously Bobby. They make her out to seem like such an "It" girl in her youth but still very mysterious and troubled. Why is it that she was never narrating at any point, or that her personal story was never its own part in the book. I just want to know why Carol Gerber is always talked about and talked too but never talks herself.
