This was one of my most favorite stories in the Nightmares & Dreamscapes collection.

I actually had it on audio (tape I believe) and was listening to the entire thing while I was driving up to Erie Pa on my first big case as a PI (parental kidnapping). When I drove into the town of Corry Pennsylvania this is the story that came on.

I still have fond memories of that miserable drive, and this story.

A decent adaptation in the Nightmares and Dreamscapes TV anthology series, starring William H. Macy, but there is also a very fine dollar baby version of this that is quite effective.
