Dave, Please stop reading my books. The late Jerome John Garcia, a man of whom I happen to be a fan, even in his absence, more eloquently than to muster right now..... "Mean people suck". I stand by my assessment. Stevo

Stephen, you're the man, but I have to disagree with you on this one. But I'll still be a constant reader.

Mr. King , first , let me say ; I'm a big fan of your work , having read most (not quite all ) of your books . You and Mark Twain are the two authors I would most like to have a drink and a conversation with , that said , while I have not gotten to read the affore mentioned essay , I must disagree with it's premise based on several reasons . 1. While as musicians I would concede The Beatles were only moderately talented , as songwriters they were unsurpassed in their ability to write songs that stick in the mind and stand the test of time . 2. Without the advent of The Beatles and the subsequent British Invasion , rock-n-roll as a musical genre would have died in the mid '60's . No Stones , no Who , no Kinks , no Yardbirds , etc. which , in turn led 3. The resugance of American rock in the form of the Doors . Jefferson Airplane , Hendrix , CSN&Y and so on . Would love to read the essay and hear your reply to my thoughts . Yours, A Constant Reader

You must have forgotten the Grateful Dead. I can think of no other act with as pathetic a body of work (two decent songs in 30 years) , with anywhere near large an army of tasteless loser followers. How can I claim that Deadheads are tasteless? I submit Pachouli Oil, Caucasion Dreadlocks, Tie-dyed anything, and the music of the Dead as proof of their poor taste. Losers? I submit that people who wear Pachouli Oil and Tie-Dyed shirts are shunned by society at large for self-evident reasons.
