A message from Marvel

The first chapter of Stephen King's magnum opus, The Dark Tower, arrived last month in graphic fiction form from Marvel Comics to great response across the country. Despite an incredibly healthy overprint, the demand for this issue has been greater than anticipated and the issue has sold out. But fear not, King fans, Marvel is pleased to announce that we will be going back to press on the first issue, with a brand new cover by Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada.

Following the adventures of young Roland, Stephen King's Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born continues to win over fans both new and old. Says Quint of, "Get to the comic store and pick this up!" Issue 3 of the series will be in stores on April 4th.

Update on Mist

Filming began this week in Louisiana on the long-awaited movie adaptation of The Mist. Frank Darabont, who directed Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, is also heading this project.

Cast members include:

Andre Braugher as Norton
Jeff DeMunn as Dan Miller
Marcia Gay Harden as Mrs. Carmody
Laurie Holden as Amanda
Thomas Jane as David
Toby Jones as Ollie
Bill Sadler as Jim

Dimension has this currently scheduled for release in theaters in November.

Blaze to be published by Scribner

Scribner has announced that they will be publishing the first-written but last-recovered Richard Bachman novel titled BLAZE, on June 12, 2007.

Haven Foundation Book Store News

The February selection of a signed book through The Haven Foundation will be Hearts in Atlantis (hardcover). The price will be $60 plus shipping. The books will go on sale beginning at 12 noon Eastern Time on February 23rd. We have a total of 25 copies available and will be offering them in small lots at random times throughout the day so that they will not sell out within the first 2 minutes of going on-sale as they did in January. We do not take pre-orders or telephone orders.

The March selection will be Dreamcatcher (hardcover), also at $60 plus shipping, and the April selection will be Black House (hardcover) signed by both Stephen and Peter Straub for $80 plus shipping.

PLEASE NOTE: Anyone who has purchased a signed Stephen King book through The Haven Foundation will not be eligible to purchase another signed copy. We have a one signed book per household lifetime limit in order to give as many people as possible the opportunity to get a signed book.

To celebrate the launch of the ground-breaking new comic book series adapted from Stephen King's magnum opus, The Dark Tower, Marvel Comics will offer a first-ever midnight release of The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born #1 the night of Tuesday, February 6, 2007. Nearly 150 retailers across the country will open at midnight on Tuesday (effectively 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007) so Stephen King fans can get their hands on the debut issue of this historic comic.

Interview for Lilja's Library fan site

Lilja atLilja’s Librarywill be posting a 3-part interview with Stephen on his site beginning Tuesday, January 16th. Among the many topics in the interview, they will be discussing DUMA KEY and BLAZE as well as plans for the follow up with Peter Straub to BLACK HOUSE.
UPDATE:Scribner has announced that the U.S. On-sale date for Duma Key will be January 22, 2008.

Update on The Mist:

We have received news from Frank Darabont's office that Dimension will be producing The Mist along with Darkwood Productions. Shooting is scheduled to begin February 20th in Shreveport, LA. Casting choices will be announced soon.
