Well, I also dinged the bullseye regularly at 500 yards. I'm thinking the AK-47 wasn't so well known for that. However, I've never trained on an AK, so I don't have a basis for comparison. And the M-16 has been replaced in any event.

I frankly have doubts about being able to keep the target sighted with any handheld automatic weapon while it's firing on full auto.
I agree. Just about anything on full auto is hard to control. I will say that an H&K MP5 is an exception to that rule. You can put a three round burst center mass just about every time at 25 feet. Combine that rifle with a holographic reticle scope and it becomes a surgical tool as far as accuracy.

You've just watched a video of just that and you still frankly have doubts? What does it take to convince you, a blow to the head?

Did you watch the video the OP (me) posted? You didn't bother, did ya.
Look stupid some now, your own doing, son.

Whoa, slow your roll guy. We all do pretty good when it comes to carrying on civil conversations here.
I'm sorry, I just don't get it.
The guy clearly hasn't any idea what he's talking about, he hasn't watched the OP video (otherwise he wouldn't say automatic weapons are impossible to control-
It looks like an insult by ignorance to me, I hope you gave him a bit of your mind too.
I admit I was over the line too and promise I'll try to keep it civil in future.

I've edited your post. It is your tone that is offensive. You are making assumptions about the people you are responding to based on nothing more than that they disagreed with your opinion in the video rather than finding out more about why they disagreed. Because I've read many of ghost19's posts in other threads, I know he is very familiar with weaponry. I don't know as much about Grandpa's background because he is relatively new here but I do recall his having said he was in the military and I think that would count as hands on experience, not just internet experience. You immediately ratcheted up your tone and made it personal. As Dana Jean said, slow your roll and ask questions if you want to have a civil discussion.

...thanks for the censure of Mr. Kalashnikov...I've watched that damn video a dozen times, and that sure looks like a heavily modified AK to me, using low grain rounds...so yeah, it's possible to keep the muzzle down, especially when they've attached a foregrip to the rail...

Internet experience beats actual events? I don't get it. Please explain.
Have a wonderful morning.
Firing M-16s and the M-60 in the Marines, and I was a very good shot.

I'm not making a definitive statement. It's not a moral issue or fall-on-my-sword argument. I'm giving my impression from my real-life experience. If there are hand-held automatic weapons that have so nicely buffered recoil that the sights and muzzle stay static on target 50, 100, 200 yards downrange during steady firing on full auto, that would be the fact, and that's just grand.

While I appreciate the comments from the experienced gun owners as my own stepfather had tons of weaponry as a Marine in the household. I grew up around guns, so I understand. However, just stating my opinion here, so don't blow up on me. I just never got the fascination with them. Never will. To each his own, I guess.

I haven't owned a firearm or fired a shot since the Marines. While I was, like I said, a good shot, it wasn't a transferable skill.

I doubt any automatic weapon is that user friendly, the point is - recoil can be compensated if the weapon operator is a professional. Which you can see in the video. It's not just some guy, it's a special forces fighter.

Well, good, then. Because my words, as you quoted, were, "I frankly have doubts about being able to keep the target sighted with any handheld automatic weapon while it's firing on full auto." So I'm glad we agree.

...Длинная-длинная очередь...translates as "Long-long queue"...yep, that just SCREAMS Special Forces...any professional soldier or shooter worth their salt won't fire on full auto unless it's an emergency...any training stresses short bursts for better control and accuracy...AK or no AK...

Hey Dima, I think you misunderstood my post sir. I did watch the video several times. I can see that the rifle isn't a standard issue AK-47. It has a holographic sight and what looks like a shorter barrel. It almost looks like the later model AK-74 more than it does the an AK-47 but the video never shows a close up of the rifle. Is it firing the 7.62 or the 5.56 round? The controlled full auto fire looks like the weapon may have been chambered for 5.56, keeping the barrel down with those big old 7.62 rounds going down range would definitely be a challenge but whoever is firing the rifle looks like they know to lean into it and control the recoil. Either way it's impressive. No disrespect meant whatsoever. Other than Mr. King's books, firearms are my favorite topic, tied with Kentucky bourbon discussions. Have a good weekend sir.

...and trained operators know the stance and body weight distribution needed to minimize muzzle rise or flip when running a clip on full-auto...and in the heat of armed exchange, there's still no guarantee of perfect control...rangework is world's apart from true combat stress...
