I have NEVER cracked one of his books. Better things beginning with a 'K' in the library.

I've really never understood those who think it's impossible to enjoy King AND Koontz...

I'm gonna work my way through the older classic stuff (Phantoms, Watchers, Midnight, etc.) and then move on to the newer stuff. Or I might dive into the Odd series because I've heard nothing but good things about it. So many choices!

Here we go...

Thank you for the recommendation. I don't harbor any negative sentiments toward him; just haven't been 'drawn'. So many authors I do like and so many books still to read plus the classics.
V, he's fantastic. Plus, he is largely the genesis of my interest in sK, since Koontz was the first horror (though he himself generally describes his stuff otherwise) author I'd discovered. I started with Lightning (really good), then read The Bad Place (amazing). My faves include The Taking, False Memory, Midnight, and the first Odd Thomas (I haven't read subsequent ones in that series, yet).

I think King blurbs or plugs Koontz's Strangers...one of many Koontz stories I've enjoyed. First was Mr. Murder when that was on the current paperback shelf...story about a writer, a kind of Dark Half via Koontz. There's plenty who like to bully Koontz but the principles are some of the same head-knockers that King employs...and that is meant to be nicely ambiguous. :)

There are some very fun Koontz books. There are also some stinkers...same with anyone who churns out so much stuff, and King ain't no exception. Folks that get turned off by one of the mediocre Koontz books should try another. I like The Darkest Night of the Year and From the Corner of His Eye. The Odd Thomas series has ups and downs.

I lurk here, so you can tell where my allegiance lies.
