I just wanted to get this out there for first time readers. Just a thread to post opinions, questions, and thoughts on the book. So please please please.... try to watch what you post and warn if you are posting a spoiler, I'm starting to see it may be hard not to have a spoiler here and there. :smile-new::smile-new::blue::smile-new:

With that said, who is reading "IT" for their first time?
Scariest part so far?

...certainly not me...I've worn out two copies...
RARE Stephen King It Proof with One of A Kind Glenn Chadbourne Art Custom Case | eBay
Saw this on the Losers''s Club Facebook group and have wanted it badly. I think 1000.00 is a lot but its very well done by Mr. Chadbourne and if I had that much to drop on a book this would surly be the one!

I was thinking on going on a SK marathon and trying to read the entire SK cannon! Minus the books that I have read recently and starting with the novels first. A re read of IT would surly be my tenth time, but no worries there as its always worth a read! I may start a new thread for for this in a more appropriate section. I want to keep the IT talk over here though. The old SK forums had a great "IT" section so when I saw the new one I thought I had to get something going. First thread I've ever started though.

I've actually started reading IT a couple weeks ago. I'm only close to 300 pages in and there really hasn't been any scary parts for me so far, but i just finished the part when mike was still a kid and he goes to the mill that blew up and killed a bunch of kids and finds a giant bird there like the one him and his dad saw in a movie the night before, and Mike hides from it inside one of fallen smoke stacks. I thought that part was pretty cool. Im a big SK fan and I love how his mind works how he can just throw something like that into a story .

I'm reading it right now. On page 760 some. Not sure if this is the most scariest or most disturbing for me.
The part where Beverly is leaving her man to go to derry and the abuse was so vivid. Hitting a woman like that really was hard to read. So glad she got her licks in.

Just a reminder, this is a spoiler free thread.

I'm on page 760. Book just keeps on getting better and better. I never saw the movie except for just a few parts. When I'm done with the book gonna check it out and see how they did. Being over a thousand page book my guess is they left a lot out. Which doesn't bother me too much. I understand. I just dislike when they change it. Like in 1408 and the shining. Now I know why they changed the name to Stanley Kubricks the shining.

I'm reading for the first time. I'm around page 460 in my paperback copy. I'll continue to post as I read.

I think it is hard to have any kind of discussion of a book without spoilers. :D I, however, salute your attempt to do it. I always feel like a first time reader, whenever I crack this particular book. So far, I've found something new I missed every time I reread it. I dread the day when I've finally read it enough times that I no longer experience that effect.

Same here, Robert Gray !

However, I decided to "re-read" it in small parts and random chapters, so I can re-read them as many times as I want to, to the point when I fully understand it.

It's impossible to memorize all the little details in 2 or 3 times with this book, IMO.

* ok, even 5 or 6 times isn't probably enough :p ;)

i just finished reading IT for the first time & honestly I'm a little emotional now that it's over! (I get emotionally invested in books) But now I'm all analyze-y about it because there's so much to this story--seriously one of the best books I've ever read. I found myself a little scared the first time they went to "fight" IT, the descriptions plus reading late at night in the dark...:0:

I have a question, but not sure how to post without there being a spoiler! How should I phrase it so I don't give anything away?

Put what you want to say in a spoiler. See the bar above this box that has the smiley face? next to it is a picture of mtns., then there are film strips, then there is a letter icon. click on that. There is a spoiler tab. click that, type what is spoilery inbetween those two tabs and it is safe.
