There. These are movies i return too and have seen more than twice. And by the way, I actually liked Avatar, West side story and Titanic. Saw in an other thread that they seem to be on the list of movies disliked the most. maybe i'm contrary.
I'm not sure. I remember the 3D effects when they where flying the dragon and so on. They did that way too long, just to play with the 3D toys. It was if the makers had told the audience, OK we take a break here so we can play with our new technical toy, the movie will start soon again. They were impressive effects but they slowed the story down. But is always the same when discover new effects. they use them way too much and the story suffers. Sometimes they even make movies without storys and just cram in a lot of effects. Plain borinng. Avatar had a story, even if it breaks now and then.
Definitely The Thing...........no matter how many times you have seen them?
One of mine would be John Carpenter's The Thing.
[after Spicoli wrecks Jefferson's car]
Jefferson's Brother: My brother's gonna kill us! He's gonna kill us! He's gonna kill you and he's gonna kill me, he's gonna kill us!
Jeff Spicoli: Hey man, just be glad I had fast reflexes!
Jefferson's Brother: My brother's gonna sh*t!
Jeff Spicoli: Make up your mind, dude, is he gonna sh*t or is he gonna kill us?
Jefferson's Brother: First he's gonna sh*t, then he's gonna kill us!
Jeff Spicoli: Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

The first 30 minutes of this movie is in a league of its own. R. Lee Ermey was amazing.

It certainly looked and sounded authentic, but from what I understand he was an actual DI in the USMC.....made even more so by the fact he ad-libbed all of the abuse......
Yes he was, back in the Vietnam era..I have a friend who went through Parris Island in the early eighties, and I asked him if it was as rough as it shows. He paled and said "Worse",this is a guy who kids constantly about everything, happy go lucky, but he didn't find anything humorous about the Island..It certainly looked and sounded authentic, but from what I understand he was an actual DI in the USMC.
