Not at all. I've (tried) to vote a few times. I'm taking care of a disabled person and I am pretty sure I am dying. I still think that humor in the face of no hope is a decent anesthetic. No disrespect intended. It's just four different walkers.

Gotcha.....Thanks for that. I didn't understand the "four walkers" theme :)
I agree that humor is a great thing to have.

One of my mom's carpenter friends crafted a pretty ingenious overlocking platform for her walker (the first one, close enough w/o the tray). He had "the big one" a few months later. He was kinda kooky, but had a good sense of humor.

He left a little paper bag with a surprise inside our mailbox shortly before he died.

I wanted to share this note from Jay......it really shows what kind of guy he is. Through all his troubles, he is still encouraging others.
I am proud to call him a friend

Hello Family and Friends

It has been a long time since I have updated you on my progress. I have been doing well, but I would be lying to you if I said that it wasn't hard. Every day is a challenge, but I am up to it because I am a fighter. When I used to run, I always enjoyed running steep hills because they were a challenge. My favorite, hill to run, was Bass Lake to the Fire Tower in Blowing Rock. It is an amazing 10.5 mile loop run and it always challenged me. You never knew what you would see from horses, deer, squirrels, owls and many other things. Getting there was not a problem, but I liked to get up there faster and faster each time. I would push myself to the limit and when I reached the peak I would sit on the concrete of the tower, dripping in sweat, my heart was beating hard and a smile. That always brought me great joy because I was doing something that not many people can do and each time I did it I got better at it.

Instead of climbing mountains, I am climbing my everyday challenges and they are many like not owning my wheelchair because we have been jerked around by the insurance company, very high medical bills and bladder issues. I learned a lot of things by climbing those hills like if you work hard you can overcome, you can do anything if you set your mind on doing it, you are stronger than you think, you earn what you work hard for and if it were easy everybody would be doing it. Climbing gave me confidence, the confidence that taught me how to conquer my every day’s circumstances.

So many good things have been accomplished last month and Lisa and I have witnessed so many acts of kindness. I had a birthday in which two of my favorite people came to my home and shared lunch with me. That made my day, Paige and Loren! My best friend Tom, his wife Jennifer and his sister-in-law Angie took Lisa and me out for supper and after Tom gave me a bowl he crafted by hand from the tree that fell on me. I will hold on to that bowl forever Tom and that is an awesome reminder of our friendship. Our Spinal Cord Peer Group began and we held our first meeting at the Watauga Wellness Center. We had a meet and greet and hopefully we will develop a group to help support one another. I received my 15 year award for working at Blue Ridge Electric. Wow, how fast the time goes. I also had a surgical procedure to help correct a bladder problem I have had ever since I got injured. The problem was fixed for about four weeks and life was a lot more normal, but unfortunately it did not last. What was done was supposed to last around a year or so and I contracted a UTI which caused me to start leaking again. I will have to have the surgical procedure done again this June. Lisa and I did our first 5K race since being injured. It was amazing that I could ever do one again. If you told me last January that I was going to do one I would have said, "your are crazy!" Lisa and I had a great time with our friends. We laughed as we rolled along. I appreciate Carolyn and Crystal for helping Eddie and me when our arms started smoking. My good friend Valerie Mazza and I created a new running group for Boone called Blue Ridge Runners. What we want is to promote is a healthy lifestyle through walking, jogging, running or wheeling on our beautiful Greenway Trail. We offer a very inviting way for beginners or anybody who wants to start making a difference in their lives. If you want to get started and begin losing weight, as I did, this is your opportunity! This is a great way to meet new people who are trying to do the same thing and it is free to the public. No dues because it is just running. We meet every Saturday morning 9am at the Clawson-Burnley Pavilion on the Greenway.
