Just watched 'The Returned' and it is a fantastic French TV series. Right now on USA iTunes the first episode is free. Yes, it is French spoken with English subtitles but it is probably the best eerie TV show I've seen in years.

Don't know if Mr. King reads the forums but I think he might like this show.

I hope everyone enjoys it very much.

He's been watching it and loves it. While in Paris he was trying to find copies subtitled in English and finally found someone who could help. It sounds like a good show.

This is the best thing I have seen in a long time. I think about the story all the time, even dream about it. I started watching it on Amazon a few weeks ago, taking the 8 episodes of the first season slowly, one at a time, with several days off in between to make them last. The second season won't come out until later this fall. I'm truly in love with the show.

I only have 2 more to go, and I don't think I can not watch both at one sitting...as soon as it gets dark!

I wonder if it's on HULU+? They have quite a few foreign series--I get stuck into Scandinavian dramas all the time. Now I have to go look :)

If you find it there, give it a try. I think you might like it. It's $2 per episode on Amazon, in case you can't find it on Hulu.

Some people I have told about it won't watch it when they find out it's subtitled, which is too bad.

It's not really your typical zombie show.

Subtitles don't bother me :) My brother had the same reaction to HEADHUNTER (a Scandinavian film), even though I KNOW he'd love it. Says subtitles give him a headache, and who am I to argue? Not my head :D

LOVING this show! Its creepy and involving, and not bloody-for-the-sake-of-bloody--that makes the few violent scenes even more unsettling. The inevitable US remake couldn't possibly match this show. WOW.

Just did a run and gun of the first season of this on Netflix. Loved it. And, if done well, I don't mind subtitles.

If they don't give me enough time to read them, I don't like that. And, sometimes, I know they don't include everything. I know this because sometimes I turn on subtitles for English speaking movies when I can't hear a certain actor due to accent. Just watching the subtitles and hearing, they cut stuff. So, I don't trust subtitles 100%.

True. They aren't always 100% accurate. Even with rudimentary French, I caught some things on Witnesses that were sugarcoated--lol. The French was more blunt than the subtitles :D
