Reading a lot lately, as I'm in a 'my computer died' funk (lol). The Ghost of the Mary Celeste was weird. I generally admire Valerie Martin, but this one was disappointing. Despite great character development, the story as a whole didn't hang together for me-maybe I need to read it again. Michael Pollan's illustrated Food Rules was as good as I expected-he is one of my favorite food writers. Animal, Vegetable, Miracle (Barbara Kingsolver) again. The Soloist-Eh. It was all right. French Women Don't Get Fat and French Women For All Seasons-not so much for diet stuff, but because Mireille Guiliano writes charmingly :) What To Eat (Marion Nestle)-fascinating nutrition information c"ecked it out from the library & had to go buy my own copy. Rot & Ruin- GREAT zombie adventure! I absolutely loved it-who cares if it's YA? Now on Scott Siegler's Infected, & It's pretty good so far. Oh, and I finished The Wasteland again-love that book :)
You know, mom2. You really should try and site aside some time for reading a bit more.

I finished The Maltese Falcon and loved it. Such a well written book. A bit different from the 1941 movie, which I have seen plenty of times. I am on to The Big Sleep now and loving it. About a 1/4 of the way in. I have never seen the movie version of this so the story is all new... and a bit shocking to me!
The movie version is good too. Bogart and Bacall at their prime. When you feel satisfied by Chandler there is always Ross MacDonald and Philip Macdonald which continued in the same genre. Ross M,s investigator is Lew Archer and Philip M,s is Travis McGee. Both are worth a closer aqaintance. Hope you keep on enjoying Chandler. =D

Yesterday I finished up my Different Seasons reread. I took it in bits and pieces, even though it had been a while since I read it, the stories were still very familiar to me, all but The Breathing Method.

Then I started A Leaf on the Wind of All Hallows, an Outlander story. Something short to tide me over til tomorrow, and also the next Outlander book, which is out one week after Mr. Mercedes! June is going to be a great reading month. ;-D

Finally, after all these years, I am reading Carrie for the first time. It is a good story, but what I find coolest about it is the rawness of the writing. What I mean by that is that one can tell that this was Stephen King when he was just coming into his own. Very cool to be able to almost slip back in time.

Ive just finished Cujo again. Considering Stephen King said he couldnt remember writing it (we've all been there!) its a very good book and left me feeling sorry for Cujo. It wasn't his fault what happened, he was a loyal dog!!
Im starting James Herbert's The Survivor next before i jump onto Mr Kings next book The Gunslinger << cant wait love the Dark Tower series!!!

I am currently working my way through the reread list and decided I absolutely cannot read Cujo or Pet Sematary again-I just can't! I am waaaaay too much of an animal lover and would simply fall apart! :saddd:

I'm afraid thats very true. I have proof. Was out today and bought Mr. Mercedes. Havent had time to sink in to it yet but i can see it and feel it on the bedside table. Seems to have a voice that says "read me. Read me! You can sleep next week or so" But i have to get some sleep or i wont be worth much tomorrow. But it is difficult to sleep when a book is talking to you!

Reading a new King book is tre important, but getting your sleep is way more important. The book will always be there.
