Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyy, you guys!

Right here, right now: sign up! We're working on a private gathering place for the writers. Stay tuned.

Story blast-off will be right after Independence Day.

I need plot ideas, location ideas, and names of all who want to participate.

There is no such thing as a bad idea. One and all will be considered and we'll figure out a way to vote democratically on it.

Love, Lily

It's that time already?
Hmmmmm. Ideas.
How about this: A bunch of writers sign up for a contest. If they win, they get to meet and write a story with their favorite author. If they're eliminated, well... who knows what really happens to them. Setting: something isolated, whether it's a remote hotel or somebody's private island. No phones, no internet. No way to call for help.
The contestants? Everybody that signs up to write the SKMB Halloween story.
Just an idea off the top of my head to kick things off.

What I'll do with these ideas is cut and paste them into a document, and then when we have a private gathering area, I'll post them. We can then determine what we like and if we want to dovetail some ideas together.

I like this one already. Reminds me of a hybrid And Then There Were None and Survivor.

With a little Clue thrown in, just for fun :)

Okey dokey, kittens.....

I've been informed by Sai Jordan that a private group meeting place will be established here, but that he needs a list of all who want to participate in the story. I will not have any kind of administrator rights to add people to the group. That's going to be Jordan and I don't want him to be saddled with latenik requests.

We need to get the ball rolling on the story as soon as possible, so please let me know you're in by June 30th. That's this coming Monday! We'll commence brainstorming right after the Fourth of July. (For all you non-U.S. folks, that's American Independence Day and most people won't be around until a day or two afterwards).

Management thanks you for your cooperation and patience.

Love, Lily

OK - just a couple of questions. I have written a thing or two in my time, but I'm always scared to share. So if I sign on to contribute, do I have to? Can I chicken out? Are people assigned in a certain order? Count me in - but feel free to edit the heck out of me.

*LOL*
Yes, you can chicken out....but out of courtesy to the other writers, we encourage you not to. For one thing, you are included from the get-go in writer discussions. The readership on the public side of the Board has requested that the story be installed segment by segment, serial-style, on a daily basis....they don't want to know what's coming next. So you're entrusted to keep your mouth shut if you do chicken out.

We know this is scary for some people. That's why we make it user-friendly and do our best to accommodate everyone. Writing, and going public with it, is kind of like stripping in public without being invited to do so. We get it. However, the gang who contributes to the story usually feels that it's fun enough that you easily overcome first-timer fears. We aren't paid, we're not doing this for a raise or for a promotion, we're not being judged by a panel of professional book critics. We write because we enjoy it, and we always have a great time cobbling together a story for the rest of the Board.

You'll be edited to the extent that your segment still retains your own flavor and style of writing. It's mostly just for length that any editing is done. Sometimes there may be some continuity that's worked out, but your piece will still reflect *you*.

I hope I've answered your questions. :grinning:
