On final post before I get back to work:
Are danie, staropeace, and VampireLily all going to be at this year's King Kon? (Just sayin :m_bigwink:)
:m_excited:
:beat_chest:
Neesy, you are so sweet to ask if I'll be going to the Kon! I'm not going, but it's SO nice to be thought about!
I would love to meet you all, but I'm held back by several factors. Maybe someday...

The only time I put pins in my SK doll is when he kills a dog :(
I ...the same.... ...it's maybe me too sensitive when it comes to animal cruelty, but I never ever understood, nor enjoyed his use of animal cruelty to depict how mean the characters are....more, hated when the cats are the bad guys and so on....though, I know he is a good person and never could hurt an animal....I hate that parts, but I still love SK :)

No one seems to be getting my point. I'll just say it once more and be done with it: many (not all) of his sex scenes are very childish; as if written by an adolescent boy. They are out right laughable. This is my point. Amen.
...and not all sex is curled toes and ecstatic cries...because not all of us are magnificent and proficient lovers...I do OK, but my points is-I've always thought what he wrote-awkward, adolescent or what have you-rang all the more true BECAUSE it was written that way...

...the only thing that King has done that ever really grated on me, and this may harken back to an earlier post-is what I felt was the over the top "nasty" 'Detta Holmes....way to much stereotyped slanguage and carrying on...the point could have been made without so much vileness...
it's like SK watched a two day marathon of 70's blaxploitaion movies and gave birth to Detta Walker. Whenever I read "honky mo-fo" I cringe

I can't believe noone has mentioned this yet: arc sodium lights. ;-D
Hi guys! I'm curious, is there something you don't like in SK's work? A character that you dislike? ... (not in the way you dislike the bad guy, because most of them are awful) a theme, an idea, a description? something?
not really a dislike but am I the only one who has no idea what ozone smells like? can't quote from any particular book but SK has a thing for the smell of ozone

He is not the only writer who smells ozone. I have never in my life lol.

I have. It's metallic, distinctive, and frightening. My reaction to it is like the one I have to smelling burning bakelite: not good. Emergency is close at hand if I smell burning bakelite, and it makes me want to call the fire department. When I smelled ozone, I wanted to get the hell out of Dodge.

Some of the dialogue in the early books is a bit creaky. Like in Salems Lot. I thought so then and I think so now. It's nothing to do with the story itself, just some of the dialogue. Not so much in the later books. Still, I'm not a writer but I do read a lot and Sk isn't the only one who creaks now and again. Not wishing to offend fans of Dean Koontz, but IMO his dialogue is drowned by all the creaks.
What are "creaks"?

I seriously can't think of much, but as for the movies, ahhh that is where my bickering starts, LOL.
I don't like how so many of the movies come off as cheesy.. Almost embarrassing to be seen watching, lol. Two prime examples of this for me, are The Langoilers and Riding The Bullet, although there are many for me. The newer version of The Shining as well... I never could get past the kid they casted as Danny... I don't want to sound like a meanie but I just couldn't stand looking at that kid! That was worse then Shelley in the original for me, LOL!
Then you have the big name hits, like Christine, Pet Semetary, etc.. Seems like so many great things could have been done over the years with some of the movies, but they just turned out cheesy and awkward, in my opinion. I realize budget has to do with it and some were made for TV, but come on now...
