Yes, but he cooks for a living. That's like asking him to give you a massage if he was a physical therapist or a massage technician. I certainly aren't going to play 'store' with my mate (if I had one) after I get home from work, I'll tell ya that much! ;-D
......but I bet you'd play "where's the salami?"....:face:

The only thing I don't like about Under the Dome is that I can't be a specialist consultant along with the medical doctor they already have but who, if you work in Emergency Medicine, you know he doesn't so you want to remind him of updates in your area of interest.
Emergency Medicine is a special field of medical care. Just like cardiology, Nuclear medicine and Cath lab. Doctors of Emergency Medicine are called Emergency Medical Physicians (EMP's) or Trauma Surgeons.
Other doctors understand Emergency Medicine but if they don't do it exclusively the way EMP's do then they'll forget certain things and not be completely updated on other things. Medicine is such a big field of study now that no one person could know all the details of every single special field. That's why doctors consult specialists like cardiologists, internists, etc.
I want to be one of the consultants because frankly I think it would be safer than going on a call wherein you're trying to load the patient and suddenly gunshots start sounding in the general vicinity.
At the very least I'm buying a bulletproof vest because this is ridiculous.

Wow.. Sounds like you're a little overwhelmed.. If you really feel you need a bulletproof vest to work safely..do whatever you need to to make sure you're safe, but there are a lot of areas in medicine, without putting yourself in jeopardy.. Just saying,if you think ambulance work is too dangerous, maybe it's time to move to the ER..:grinning:

I was, but I gave up on the vest idea after considering the fact that I'm rarely on scene when shots are fired and anyway the police take care of it.
After watching the Harry Potter Weekend last night and all day today, I feel way more relaxed. Even that nasty Professor Umbridge seemed low-key compared to my week. Altho she's pretty nasty in the movie.

There was a mass shooting in the emergency room where I worked. That's why they now have a metal detector at the entrance to the Trauma Unit. I worked there when that happened but was off-duty.
The man shot people because he had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen when he came in as a Trauma 3, aka the walking wounded.
I live in a big city.

Isn't that something,we were both catching up on Harry Potter this weekend, I was watching it too! I quite enjoyed the book series and thought they did a nice job in the movies as well.. Regardless, I'm glad you are feeling calmer and hope you stay safe! The skmb is always here for diversion and nice folks for conversation too,so keep on keeping on,and good luck to you!
