Started Blood and Beauty by Sarah Dunant (or possible the before both words..) Historical novel about The Borgias. Start when Alexander VI is elected Pope 1492. He immediately starts intriguing to increase his and his familys power. Lucrezia is just gonna get married to a Sforza. Interesting new light. If you have read some about the Borgias the picture you get is sometimes to black to understand. She does a good job at making the characters more real. Can be compared with Hilary mantel and her Wolf Hall but a bit less description and more dialogue. Don't think it has anything to do with the TVseries.
Did you finish Infected? What did you think of the end?

Havent finished it yet. Right now i read Three books at the same time. Those two and a swedish author named Jan Guillou. Thats a bok taking place in the years between first and second world war. Thrre norwegian brothers and their families that are starting a new life after the first only to see their famillies get splitterred when fascism is rising its ugly head in germany. Not original but well researched and wellwritten. It is the third in a series called the 20th century. My translation of course. I often read several at a time. Only king is able to capture me so i read him straight through.

Finished The Likeness (Tana French). Phenomenal mystery. That's a genre that usually doesn't do much for me, but this is the third one by her that I've read & I loved them all. Irish writer, stories set in and around Dublin. Next up is the last of the Rot & Ruin series, Fire & Ash. I've thoroughly enjoyed this YA zombie series, & will likely look up more of Maberry's books. I have another book waiting at the library, but heck if I can remember which one it is--lol.
Yeah, the likeness is really good. A touch of The Secret History by Donna Tartt don't you think. But iwasn't as thrilled by Faithful place as i was by In the Woods and The Likeness. Perhaps i just missed Cassie...

I finished The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair. It was a compelling read with multiple strands and time periods, yet the author managed to pull it off. Though the last hundred pages it seemed like he was trying a bit too hard to give the reader a boffo ending, and it felt like a little bit of piling on.

Just started A Tale for the Time Being, by Ruth Ozeki. A woman finds a Hello Kitty lunch box washed up on the beach of a remote island off the BC coast and in it are some letters and a diary written by a teenaged girl living in Tokyo. The first 40 or so pages are amazing.
And also The Emperors Soul, by Brandon Sanderson. It is a novella, very engaging so far.

Late June, early July doesn't abide me reading time, but I'm back into it now, and just finished "The Eyes of the Dragon" by SK. Good story, and a fast read. It brought back memories of reading "The Dark Tower" books last summer! And made me wish I had THAT to do all over again! Too many others on my TBR list, though. I was about 2/3rds of the way through "Middlesex", but didn't finish before I had to return it to the library (ran out of renewals, at the end of June, so I will have to finish it one of these days. In the meantime, my plan is to begin "The Anansi Boys".

I read my first Zombie novel a few weeks ago. 'Coldbrook' by Tim Lebbon. Quite simply...amazing! Imagine The Stand was a Zombie novel, but with interdimensional infection! Multiple earths infected and we're next.
The sheer slaughter was mind blowing, but there was none of this Braiiiiins nonsense! Characterisation was excellent and it was a page turner from start to finish! Look it up!

Try Max Brooks World War Z. Not so much slaughter there but a lot of different angles on how people react before, during and after a zombie war. I liked it.

Started Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End yesterday. So far, so good. The premise of space ships parking themselves in the skies above major cities and "helping" Earth end poverty, war, etc., is one that seems hackneyed at this point, but when it was written (1951 or so) this plot was still kind of unique, so I am trying to read it as if I have never seen Independence Day, V, or a multitude of other movies and TV shows that have employed this plot line.

Just finished The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Was about to give up around page 40, but it slowly improved. It was different and there were a few very surprising parts as well as several predictable ones. The ending was almost enough for me to pick up the next book, The Girl Who Played With Fire. Almost...but I think I'll pass. Back to my SK reread list-just started The Dead Zone last night.

I did the same thing with Dragon Tattoo...read a bit of it, but couldn't get into it, so put it away. Tried it again later and ended up enjoying it. I read the second one as well, and it was good too. I have the third on my Kindle, but haven't read it yet.
I finished my reread of Speaks the Nightbird and am now reading The Birdeater. Weird title, huh?

I read all three and found you could almost treat it as one long novel. Each of the books could have used some editing especially when the author went off on some tangents. And I was gratified by Lisbeth's ability to exact revenge on most who wronged her.
