The woods are lovely dark and deep
I just picked up Lady of Ashes by Christine Trent heartily recommended by my sister. It is about a lady undertaker in Victorian England. Evidently the second book Stolen Remains is already out and the third of the series A Virtuous Death will be out this November, with The Mourning Bell coming next April and a untitled follow up in December of 2015.

In another thread somewhere, someone recommended It's So Easy and Other Lies. In the same thread, I think skimom2 recommended Paul Stanley's autobiography. I want to read them both, and wonder if they are available for ereaders?
I also want to read The Heroin Diaries, by Nikki Sixx. He managed to actually keep a diary when he was at his worst, and the music he has written as a sort of soundtrack is a haunting and triumphant look into the experience as he went through the addiction and eventual recovery.
Stories about the lives of people fascinate me.
What else do y'all recommend?

I'm finding out that Beethoven could be a real a-hole a lot of the time and would have these periods of time where he would just mentally disappear and retreat into his music.

I assumed the same but this was in his early twenties and there was no sign of hearing problems. He was not a people person and his music was above everything, even his hygiene and appearance.
Hearing problems can go undetected by others and accepted by the hearer as there is nothing wrong. I've thought oftentimes that when someone has a huge talent that they lack of other traits.

You've made me wonder if later in the book this issue may arise as a reason for his behaviour. He did have an encounter with Mozart and studied under Haydn, but was quite aware of his abilities and was not afraid to voice this belief that they were superior.

Just finnished Innocence, by Koontz (I'm on a Koontz role :excitement:)

I loved the language within it, the light with adison goodheart, and the journey itself. But those last 10 chapters were anti-climatic, not to mention the "catholic preaching". As an atheist, it doesn't bother me, after all, it is fiction. But at the same time, it ruined an otherwise perfect book for me.
