The Dark Tower is my favourite story of all time, and it made me want to write my own fantasy series. For a while now I've wanted to get a tattoo of Arthur Eld's dinh mark (probably on my wrist) but there seems to be two different versions of it. The one I thought was correct is the one pictured in The Dark Tower, on page 407, shown in the attached photo. However, the graphic novels by Marvel depict Arthur Eld's dinh mark to look more like a rose.
Does anyone know which one is the true mark of Arthur Eld?

Yeah that's what the wikia said. It just seemed weird that it's not the one pictured in the books, unless it was changed after their publication.
...it was changed-I would guess, because the original "mark" is difficult to find anywhere on anything....the one I posted seems to be the popular version because it incorporates the rose into it's design...

That's what I've found. The mark that appears in the book doesn't turn up anywhere when you search for it. Whereas the mark in the comics (and wikia) is common because as you said, it is more rose like than the other one.

Which one would you prefer as a tattoo? Maybe you could take both versions to a tattoo artist and ask their opinion?

I thought the one in the book, because I figured that would've had to have been the legit one, then I saw the rose one on the wikia and became unsure. I want which ever one is the proper one (if that's even a thing). Since there seems to be no definitive answer, I might do exactly what you said: take both to a tattoo artist and ask their opinion. It's interesting to see what you guys think though. :m_joy:

I know this is an old thread, but I just stumbled across it today. ... the picture of page 407, doesn't match the copy of the book I have. I have a first trade edition hardback, and the symbol is of the rosebud version, and it is on page 501. ... the copy I have came out quite a while before the graphic novels. I have never looked at a different copy of it, and was kinda curious now as to what other differences there are.

...I have only seen the two variants.....even after doing some longterm Googling....now there are individual adaptations, per the tattoo recipients wishes, but the ones shown above are the "true" ones....
