Hope you don't mind me butting in. I can't participate when you are discussing it (night time in sweden and i'm sleeping hopefully) so thought i should give you my little modest bit now instead. I really like this story. First the describtion of the couple and his stubbornness in admiting they are getting lost and then when the stars start to come forward. Janis as a waitress and Elvis as the major of the whole community where my faves. My only little wonderment.. That other waitress, (she was a waitress right, suddenly i'm not sure, i mean the one who warned them to get out) was she a part of the original community or some star King didn't name? Anyway i enjoyed it very much.

I think she was (like them) someone who was passing through and just got caught there by the members of the town.

Thank you for giving your thoughts, Kurben. This is why I started the reading and discussion group. It is open so by all means, yes, drop in and give your thoughts.:okay:

Yes-and at the end Mary asked her how long she'd been there.

No way-you didn't say or do anything wrong! I can't figure out for the life of me why more people don't participate! :umm:

I can't figure out either. Maybe they just want to read and think about the stories. Maybe they don't realize they are open discussion groups, maybe they don't want the commitment of coming here each Friday evening for a while. I look forward to it, but perhaps they have other stuff going on.

Did you read the Golden Nugget in the back?

Interesting-I did think this was such a perfect SK story-horror and music intertwined-even though it wasn't one of my favorites. I'm gonna watch the movie over the weekend too.

Go For it.
I have a couple of questions about this story. (Ones I would ask Uncle Steve if I had the opportunity.
)
All of these amazing musicians, if they did really play, would it be forever? Like the time waffles in Mid-World, or in 11-22-63, or by the lake in Lisey's Story?

Also, is it an analogy of some sort, hoping they are all in a good place enjoying what they do best, with twisty complaint of letting them all die so young?

Me too. I think people don't want to discuss these stories anymore, or perhaps they have discussed them several times and just don't want to participate. Could it be something I said?
Oh dear - no! In my case, after working all week sometimes I just want to be a couch potato and tune into some mindless TV show - but actually coming here is more stimulating (it is just getting my butt in gear and off the couch that is the hard part) :my_bad:

I like the creepy idea of them playing on and on, forever and ever but it is sort of mean for them to gather up what is essentially "a captive audience" :m_snicker:
