My goal was to take my time with this one, I was unsuccessful:flat: I feel like a glutton I tore through this book. It was
Com losing his voice that did it

I'm studying to be a Speech Pathologist and there were many tiny details that sucked me in.

It was well written, I liked Charlie greatly
even as he became Dr. Frankenstein level crazy
ahh maybe even because.

Well done Mr. King.

No really weak points at all. A great read. If we are to wish things i would have wished a little more on Claire and her death and how it affected the family including Jamie. After all, she was the beloved sister and it would have been interesting to explore that avenue a little more.

Well I just finished it myself, and I was thoroughly entranced with it. For my money, Charlie Jacobs has to be the single most tragic figure in all of King's work since The Shining's Jack Torrance. I was charmed by the character, grieved with and for him, and then slowly grew to despise him. I felt betrayed by the character. Great stuff.

I thought it was a good book but not his best.
Jamie talks about three stages to a man's life and the book felt like it had three acts. 1) His younger days from when he first met Charlie till he was kicked out of the band in Tulsa. 2) From the Tulsa State Fair till he got the letter about Astrid. 3) the Goat Mountain Section. I loved the first section. I thought the second was good. The third was was predictable and not scary.
On a scale of 1-10 I'd give the book a 7.5.

I really liked every section except
the mini love affair and internet hunting with Bree. The short May/December romance (which seemed like she was taken out of Mr. Mercedes) was distracting and not in a build suspense kind of way. Why can't Jamie do his own Google search? Like Jerome in Mr. Mercedes what's the deal?
