Flake, I can not watch that movie. I've tried but the moment I see that possessed face I hit forty going north . . .I'm outta there!
Super creepy, absolutely! (now, I know I swear a lot, but I think I found the language in it quite disturbing given that it was made (when?) in the early seventies? That was a huge kind of shock factor for me.)
The other movie that really frightened me was the original Omen, I saw this waaaaay too young. :icon_eek:

I tthink Alien deserves a mention. That moment when it popped out of the stomach....
I rember a creepy one of the home invasion kind called Death Weekend that was good.
And then Polanskis Repulsion. Not because of the story but because Catherine Denueve was so incredible good in her part as women that gets more and more stuck in her psychological illness. It was scary
The first Halloween
Then one of the Italian director Dario Argento but i don't remember the name right now.
Then some of David Cronenbergs early efforts... Someone mentioned The Brood, thats a good example
Then i remember a rumanian one that was real creepy. The bad guys in this one was children, perhaps 10 years old they just wanted to play And play they did....

Just rembered the name of Argentos effort. Suspiria. And i think the name of that rumanian(orwas it french and was located in rumania?) was called Them in english. Probably Ils in rumanian. Im referring to my earlier post by the way. Another good early Cronenberg is Scanners. And i can't look at a bird without thinking about Hitchcock and The Birds so it must have made an impression.

The Ring had one of the scariest scenes ever. If you have seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about.

Blair Witch was terrifying as well.

I would say Blair Witch is the film that scared me the most. I like films with a bit of mystery that allow your own mind to fill in the blanks. The way it was filmed was also something new at the time, which gave it an edge.

Blood and gore, and people people chased by zombies and monsters just doesn't scare me at all.

I found The Exorcist to be more shocking than scary. It's still one of the better horror films though.

I think that's what bothers me the most . . .a child saying such things . . .But, still --that damn demon gets me . . .

Oh my gosh, I forgot about Dead Ringers! Cronenberg's most creepy film. I can't say it scared me so much as it made me dreadfully uneasy and uncomfortable. And the first Halloween was very scary the first time I saw it :)
