I prefer paperbacks--light and portable. But I have read so many books on my Kindle because I can get them within, like, one minute, and start reading immediately. I have become used to reading on a screen although I never thought I would.

I have pretty much the same preference. I got a nook a few month ago, up until then I had about 40 Stephen King paperback novels. While I pick up the other paperbacks I want to complete my collection , I will also purchase e book copies of some of the thicker books; or if I spontaneously decide I need a book ,I don't have, right this second: I will download it to my e book. I also like that I can download a new release such as Revival at 12 AM the release date and then wait until the paperback comes out if I want to add it to my collection. Sigh I have a hardcover Mr. Mercedes because I didn't have my e book when it was released and it hasn't yet been released in a paperback copy.

The paperback will be out January 6th for those who are still waiting. :smile2:

I personally prefer hardcover, soft usually tends to buckle and warp due to the...unique environment of my bookshelf. I'm not saying I'm a book hoarder, but I probably am.

Also it's usually larger print than soft and my eyes have been getting progressively worse.

I like hardbacks, but paper won't upset me. The words are the same. I like e books as well as it's usually cheaper and easier to carry around AND you can shop for them inyou p.j.s

It seems like E-books are so expensive! I use a Kindle and rarely buy E-books because I don't see how they can justify what is near regular distribution prices for digital media. It is cheaper for me to go and lurk the used section of Amazon books. Not too long ago I received a copy of The Crow: A Murder of Crows for a penny with dollar shipping. Or I go to yard sales, thrift shops, used book shops.

I do want that King Kindle exclusive though...That's been calling out to my pocketbook for awhile.

Just thought of something- you know when you buy a movie on bluray and it'll have the dvd version (that's a big 'Huh?' to me right there) and sometimes also will have the digital download version included? How come hardback books don't also come with a digital version, too? Makes you go 'Hmmmmm.....' doesn't it?

I saw at table at Barns and Noble the other day which sold paperbacks of some Stephen king books that included a voucher/coupon to get the e book version between 4 and 5 dollars; I amuse that would only be beneficial to nook owners who wanted both paperback and nook versions of the Stephen King novels.

If it's something by a writer that I love and know I'm going to read again, I prefer hardbacks (or trade PBs, in a pinch--my first 4 DT books are in that format). I tend to buy both of those, whether at bookstores, Amazon, or secondhand shops (my favorite places to buy books). I do have a few mass market PBs, mainly ones I've kept for sentimental reasons, those I was sent as a reviewer and liked enough to keep, and a few classics that I haven't found in HB. I buckled to Kindle a few months ago, and it's okay; easier to read than on my computer screen, for some reason, but I still prefer a 'real' book in any format.
