Hi everyone! I have part one and part two of this. I would like to read it myself. That being said does anyone think either of the bookclubs I am in would like this? One is horror/supernatural and the other reads everything. Even if they don't I plan on reading it myself. What do you people think?

Since one is horror, they might like it. It is a LONG book! My book club folks often grumble if the book is too long. Enjoy it no matter how you read it!
I think Under the Dome is probably not a good choice for a book club, especially if the club is starting out (which I don't remember per your club). Its a big book, maybe sK's biggest one-story volume. There are plenty of others from which to choose. Nearly all of them have some type of supernatural element: lots of ghosts, vampires, things which are yet to be identified, aliens visible and otherwise.

There are "innie" stories and "outies". sK said the "inniest" of his stories is Gerald's Game. An innie focuses on a single individual's challenge toward achieving a goal; all else is quite secondary. The Stand is an example of an "outie"; a story involving a number of individuals' shared challenge. Lots of sK stories are part-innie-part-outie, too. Your book club could plan to read an outie one week (month, whatever), an innie the next.

Spend some time reading up on the stories. Start here...

My personal recommendation is for the club to read in this order...

1. The Dead Zone
2. Salem's Lot
3. The Shining

...then go from there.

Well, it's a fabulous book, no doubt. To me, book club books are good if they offer a lot of opportunity for discussing opposing view points about characters and scenarios. To me Under the Dome is pretty clear on who and what are good and bad. So I'm not sure. No help at all from me. But welcome, I don't think I've said Welcome to the SKMB you yet!

As the n00b critic of this forum :D Im going to say that Under The Dome is an acquired taste and won't be for everybody, regardless of its length....

My vote would be for The Talisman as it touches on everything King: the supernatural and "inscapes of the mind that become reality"....This would be a nice introduction to what encompasses SK

So, I'm going to say "No" for Under The Dome...............

Way too political IMO. King maligns Republicans, Christians, gun owners, Fox news, and others. It's fiction, so that's cool with me but I felt it was too preachy. John Irving does this on occasion. Meh...
