I googled AR pistol and I'm pretty worried about someone secretly packing one of these.

I was going to ask "is this a selfie?" but then I realized the angle was all wrong!

So the ATF 2014 Regulation Guide published this past January no longer has an exemption for AR-15 "green-tip" ammunition as it did in the 2005 ATF Regulation Guide -- which exempted it from the definition of "armor piercing" and therefore legal on the federal level... And has now unilaterally reclassified it as "armor piercing."

(How many know the 5.56 NATO round fires a very small bullet -- the same diameter as a .22 rimfire? And I’ve read no police use it because of it ineffectiveness in stopping power.)

But wait... mustn’t the new guidelines be reviewed by the Office of Management and Budget in order to for the new ATF Regulation Guidelines to become legally effective?

The ATF cannot change the law unilaterally. They failed to follow the Administrative Procedure Act, and have apparently gone around Congress and violated the Second Amendment rights of Americans. Done so as an opportunity for President Obama to once again overstep his use of Executive Powers – and thus giving him false cover for his misuse of power, one might ask?

So why take such extraordinary and illegal measures to ban it? The answer is because it’s cheap competition ammo! And it’s used in one of those mean looking guns. And if Congress and the "will of the people" won't ban it, then the Administration will find some way to usurp the law and do what they want and what's best for us because they know better, methinks. That seems to be the Administration's modus operandi as of late.

I guess this is what your money from the purchase of "GUNS" went on to fund at the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. Money well spent?

(One thing I don’t understand... It is illegal in every state for a felon to buy, sell, and possess a firearm. So the video shows felons and fugitives how to figure out which states are easiest for them to buy, carry, and traffic guns. I guess I just don’t get humor sometimes. :umm:)

How stupid. Guess what? Someone who couldn't pass a background check wouldn't be allowed to have a gun in Nevada either.
I suppose a criminal who would use a gun illegally would be deterred by a law against carrying one. I also suppose monkeys might fly out of Sarah Brady's butt.

As someone who lost her husband as the result of gun violence, I personally think she deserves a bit more respect.

Well I was going to say mine but it was her organization that made the video. Just vernacular that isn't particularly disrespectful in my opinion.

I understand. I know my views will be mostly unpopular here. We're all human.
You’re relatively new here, I believe. It takes awhile here to be relegated to the lowest form of life on earth.

I believe the unofficial hierarchy in the Hot Topics section is as follows:

Heaven
Progressives
Liberals
Democrats
Democrats who claim to be Independents

Purgatory
True Independents

Hell
Republicans
Conservatives
Second Amendment Enthusiasts
Tea Party
Me ;)

I don't believe in either Heaven or Hell so wouldn't categorize anyone into those slots. I'm pretty sure M&P15 joined on the previous Board shortly after the Guns essay came out as the area he's from is where I do my grocery shopping when I'm on vacation so it rang a bell for me. Not that there couldn't also be someone else from that same area with the same ideologies but does seem a bit coincidental. Just saying that he probably figured it out the last time. ;)

Of course. That makes perfect sense. What surprises me is that it seems to extend to the members here and I don't see why his writing would be more popular with the progressive set.

Ms. Mod., M&P 15 seems familiar from the old board and his tone/style also seems to ring some bells. I can't for the life of me place who he reminds me of but...something...is making my radar go off.

Have a good weekend, ma'am!

I'll be anyone you like.

I'm off to see if my DOTT copy has arrived. Kind of anxious to see if I can get into the DT series after failing the first time.

A Like doesn't always mean agreement with what the person said--it can just be an acknowledgment of it, but even though I "liked" your first comment doesn't mean I disagree with how you edited it. :smile2: Personally I don't see why his writing should make a difference with any group as the majority of it is fictional and the characters aren't always a direct representation of him or his ideologies. That people get their panties in a wad because of something he wrote just doesn't make sense to me. That even extends to the Guns essay, though. He had an opinion which he voiced and if someone reads it and then agrees with it or decides it's not to their liking is their right to do so but to take it to the extremes that some did, I have a hard time wrapping my head around.

What is so hard to grasp? He started off in “GUNS” with some commons sense in the piece, but quickly moved to why the NRA and guns were evil. King has glorified violence and tragedy in his books to make money, which one can't deny. His profits (or whatever you want to call them) from the sale of “GUNS” was going to the Brady Foundation, which is all about Gun Control. I don’t understand the idea that some might have a problem with the profits of King’s work going to such an organization, is so hard to comprehend, especially since he has made so much money off the subject in his books.
