I watched Pacific Rim . . .twice this weekend. I'll add it to my collection. Love it~ The visuals are amazing and crisp. Wonderful story-line and easy to follow. Ron Perlman, rocked~ I wanted to see more of him.
Watched this one also with my 9 year old son. Haven't seen him that riveted by a movie in quite a while. Wish we would have caught this one at the theater. Special effects must have cost a fortune on that one. It wasn't what I was expecting. Solid movie imho.

It sounded kind of lame when my boyfriend tried to explain the story, but he clearly wanted to see it, so I said ok. I was totally hooked in minutes. I think it's the best new movie I have seen all year.

Ehh. Not horrible but not very good either. There also was way too much corporate ad placement.

Somebody's got to pay for Barbra's nails, don cha know? They're like buttah!

I couldn't watch that one all the way through.

Bab has always keep her nails together. Classy style. I loved her in Funny Girl . . .that movie used to give me nice dreams.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL, the Alistair Sim version. That Marley is SCARY! Sad because my tape is dying, though, and I have yet to find a DVD version around here.

I've started to watch my favourite Christmas films. On Wednesday night I also settled down to watch 'Scrooge' (A Christmas Carol) with Alastair Sim who was born to play the part. No other version of this film comes close to capturing the essence of the story or England in the nineteenth century. It's a great film that my husband and I watch and enjoy every year.

Last night we sat down to watch another one of our favourites, 'Bad Santa' with Billy Bob Thornton. This film is so funny, very naughty, and highly watchable. I just love Brett Kelly who played the kid Thurman Merman...................priceless but not suitable viewing for people who are easily offended!!

I bought the Blu Ray Alien Anthology today. I have seen the first two (utterly brilliant), and some of the third (pretty darn good from what I've seen) prior to this, but I will spend a lot of time absorbing directors cuts, assembly cuts etc.
It's an awesome collection! There's so-o much 'extra' stuff on those discs!

I have seen very little of Resurrection, is it any good ?

As I said I loved the first two, and from what I have seen of the third one, it looks pretty cool, but I have heard that No. 4 is too tongue-in-cheek after the nihilism of 3.

You won't get any better than the first two Alien movies. After that it's kind of downhill, but I have to give the director of the 3rd one credit as he filmed without a finished script in hand and had people from the studio coming to him almost everyday with 'ideas', etc. There's some surprises in the 4th one that were interesting, too. Have you seen Prometheus? It's directed by Ridley Scott and is actually a prequel to the first Alien film. I didn't care much for it the 1st time I watched it but liked it better the second time around.

Haven't seen Prometheus yet, I have heard it is as confusing as hell though.

Yes, I am still trying to figure out exactly what happens in the first two minutes- even with listening to what Ridley had to say about it, it seems kind of weird and doesn't really tie into the movie for me. What I didn't like about it is that you find out where the 'big creature in the chair' from the beginning of the first movie came from (I think it added more to the mystery of the 1st movie).
