A few of the movies mentioned here as stinkers are classic family quote machines for us. But far be it from me to dispel the enjoyment of anyone's dislike. Dislike all you want. As you wish.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin. We were told how hilarious it was. After 15 minutes of watching it, nary a laugh from us, I said to Grandma, "Are you enjoying this?" "No." We clicked it off.

The Star Trek reboot. I've related elsewhere why I despise it, so I won't repeat it here. But I do. I felt like my childhood (for a guy, that's at least through the mid-30s) was betrayed.

A Streetcar Named Desire. Oh sure, Brando's great, but that story...ugh...but I think I have this problem with all of Tennesee Williams' stuff. People sweatin, drinkin, whinin about stupid crap--and nobody talks like his female characters do, all that blathering on and on about who knows what. Nobody just comes right out and says what's wrong, they just dance around each other, spouting over-written pretentious garbage. Like Cat on a Tin Roof--man, I just wanna walk into that movie, grab Liz Taylor (splendid in that white nightgown, grr), and say, "here, let me save you two and a half pointless hours of drivel--yer husband is GAY, lady. Open yer eyes."

I hear ya. I know Tennesee Williams is one of the Great American Playwrights, but I'm left cold.

Top three, I doubt any three always stay there.

Gone With the Wind would definitely be there. But I like almost all genres.

But the ones other people feel are iconic....I just don't get it.
I find Gone With the Wind loooooong and boooooring. And the more I see it (my husband likes it so I have "seen" it many times) Vivien Leigh just gets on my nerves. I thought at one time she actually did a good job but the more I see of her in the role of Scarlet, the more I see she is just a ham and overacting. Olivia de Havilland as Melanie is MUCH MUCH better.

Oh, fiddle-lee-dee!

I like the flick, but I hear ya, Scarlett needs a kick in the pants. I don't think you can really blame Vivian Leigh's performance, though; I mean, Scarlett was kinda supposed to be a selfish, whiny, hard nosed b*tch. AND, it's another case where I just wanna climb into that flick, take ol Rhett aside, and say, "dude...seriously...she's just not into you. Give it up. Oh, and whatever you do, don't let yer kid ride that damn pony."

I could never understand why she like Ashley over Rhett anyway... HUH? Wayyyy too much drama for me!
I think Rhett liked her cause she was a challenge, but, it got old and he left.
As far as human beings being messed up, it was right on target.

Which is similar to why Scarlett liked Ashley. He was the forbidden fruit.
