Thank you, Bev for clearing up the "revised" issue. Was beginning to think I'd been in a time warp and missed something important!
This was my fault and I apologise for giving incorrect information.
(I should have followed my first instinct and left an alert for Bev and one or two others that would have known for sure.)

Not your fault at all, Flake. When I searched, after seeing the OP, I kept finding "revised" listed by the books available for sale ( amazon/ BN etc). I kept thinking revised, like changed/added to as with the Gunslinger.
Never realized the word "revised" would be used because something was added- On Being 19 and the text remained as in the originals.

Not your fault at all. Now realize that revised can be used when added material is printed within in the book, yet text remains the same.

I really appreciate the answers guys. This has been plaguing me for some time. The book slaves weren't able to give me any relevant answers. I just wanted to make sure I was reading the series as intended by SK, and not end up with two separate editions (ie some revised and some not).

Before Wolves of the Calla came out, Viking re-issued the first four books in a single style. Only The Gunslinger was revised; however, all four books had the new "On Being 19" essay at the front, so they are technically new editions. The text of DT2-4 was not revised, though. DT5-7 were released by a different publisher (Scribner), therefore the books look different. In North America, it is not possible to get a consistent-looking set of DT1-7 trade editions. Only the limited editions came from a single publisher (Grant).
Thank you Bev! Flake had me worried for a moment there. But it seems i'm safe and do not need to go out harassing shopkeepers after revised editions then. Thanks!

At one time, King said he was going to revise all four, but ended up revising only book 1, The Gunslinger. I'm glad he stopped. Personally, I like the original Gunslinger better than the revised.

John

Agree. Original Gunslinger was better!

...indeed, there is such a thing as to MUCH monkeying around......
Yar! There was way too much 'Yar'ring after he revised it!!! It was yarring to me! ;;D

You didn't miss anything... I just messed up (again lol) some info'. :biggrin2:

In no way did you mess up, Flake. It was a matter of how books are advertised/labeled. Who would have thought that a book would be classified as "revised" simply because a new piece (On Being 19) was added to the original text. Revised-- definition:
to alter something already written or printed, in order to make corrections, improve, or update: to revise a manuscript.

It is just confusing, especial after the original Gunslinger WAS revised-- changed in the original text.
