Was the Reverend really hearing God's voice. Seems like he might have been imaging it but not sure. He never heard any voices before.
If you are talking about revival I felt like he believed what he was doing religiously at first. But then science took over.

It isn't easy because since I have been here things get way off topic from the posted thread so I have started to not look at them. I got to quit that before it is a habit.

It's kinda how we communicate around here, but--I understand.

No, this is from under the dome

Most of the time we try to stay on topic but sometimes things get -
:upside:look! - a squirrel!

The reverend thought he was hearing God's voice and people who hear the Voice of God find their self at the Right Hand of God whether they actually occupy that position or not. There's a multitude of other examples of characters hearing voices, having conversations with another, many times the other obviously not present. Like the two guys in Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men...you got the one guy waiting by the river, hearing the voice of his buddy, his family in the world, and a scene like that is present in Blaze. Hope that's not a dreaded spoiler. Then there's the scene in Tommyknockers and the manner in which that one is written leaves no doubt about what is happening.

Just like other people had dreams of things to come (the Halloween in fire images, the pink stars falling in lines), I think he had his own version of those. He interpreted them as messages from God. Once he got that idea, he would not let go of it.

Agree with this sentiment, I think he heard what he either needed or wanted to hear based on his own desires. Also, his character was written to seem wildly unstable and so I think it's possible he could've been a schizophrenic although not diagnosed. I was actually rather interested to know who was speaking to Horace the Corgi. BTW, anybody else notice that Horace was referred to as "Hector" a couple of times, or was that just my copy?

There are 3 types of people who say God spoke to them. 1) Liars , Abraham and Moses come to mind. 2) Insane people. 3) People off their t1ts on meth. The Reverend falls in to the3rd category, but being a reverend he might have been any of the 3.

I think that was simply
the ghost of Brenda Perkins, Duke's wife. I believe it was a case of "yes, there is such thing as spirits with unfinished business, and yes, some people and some animals may have the ability coughshiningcough to perceive them.

Gotta say i agree to this,

There are some people who ask for something or wishing something then their conscience whisper of what should they do, they interpret it as the voice of god and they did what their conscience suggested.

And it happened to me me sometimes.
