for me,I only watched two episodes of the first season..didn't like it,so that was it for me..I was looking to post a poll on it,but obviously am not skilled enough to get that done,haha..I dunno,I just found it,well, not good..compared to everything else that he has had produced from his works..

My best friend loved it......me, not so much. I didn't watch after the third episode of the first season.
I think the main difference is that I read the novel, and my friend didn't. If I had never known UTD in any other form, I might have enjoyed it.

There are three reactions- like/ dislike/ and watching cause you have become the moth attracted to the flame.
The key word is "adaptation" . The definition of adapt is to adjust or modify something or to a particular situation or circumstance. The TV series does just that- it modified the book in a BIG way.

Maybe DJ or whomever moderates tonight can make it a poll. Would be interesting to see.

Seems like the poll is working now.

As far as the direction the series have taken: my understanding is that, while the basic concept remains the same (isolating a town from the rest of the world), the televised story took an alternate direction the book could also have taken if Mr. King had been in a different mood or just had had different ideas while writing it. I was very hesitant to start watching it, until I read about Mr. King's approval and co-operation somewhere (and his criticism about people who expected/demanded to see the exact same story as in the book and nothing else). I therefore started watching dismissing the book (which I had already read) and great curiosity about the "new" story.

I fall into the "moth to the flame" category or maybe "can't take my eyes off the train wreck." ;-D

I've watched the whole thing (except for the last episode) and there have been several episodes where the show looked like it was going to right itself but would veer off course in the next one. The Stephen King penned episode was a good one.

I have seen season's one and two. On the last episode of season two, my partner stated that we would not be watching another single UTD episode and that he would never get those hours back blah-de-blah. I wanted to judge season three for myself.

I could not really answer the poll. I have been watching since the beginning but just yesterday I was thinking to myself that it's high time to call it quits. It's becoming too random for me where anything can happen and there is no cohesion. Kind of like where "Lost" went after a while. It seems to be turning into an alien invasion show, not the survival epic we read about in the book.

If I remember correctly, it was the first episode of season 2

Yeah I would've guessed that, the same he made a cameo in. Unfortunately I haven't seen that one, and the next, I was a bit late to the party when season two started being broadcast over here :( And I can't watch it back somewhere I think (no I'm not gonna buy the dvd-set for just two episodes).
