Surprisingly, I haven't seen the movie until yesterday, I always believed I would not like it. But it was just amazing. Great actors, wonderful plot... everything is right! Though, for me it appeared to be very scary, I even closed my eyes a few times... What a cruel way to kill people. I know they are murderers, criminals, they probably deserve that... But after the movie I started to think that such criminals deserve to be imprisoned, but not to be killed. Well... The movie made me thinking, that's a good thing:)

This is one of the best movies that I have ever seen. Tom Hanks, along with the other guard's acting is impeccable as is Michael Clarke Duncan's portrayal of John Coffey.

A fantastic book, a great movie and a wonderful cast!!

meh...good movie...OK, servicable adaption...that's about it...

well....someone's gotta bring da troof !!

the only director that might be able to schmooze real dramatic tension into treacle with greater ease is probably ron howard...

i know i'm in a minute minority but...quite frankly, i'd rather watch any kubrick film than any darabont film any day

I think you are probably right about that last part - rotting away in jail for the rest of your life is likely worse punishment than being put to death!

It is one of my favourite stories of all time. (book and movie both) The movie is fantastically done and doesn't it just make you bleed inside and question your whole morality?

(And have I mentioned lately that I love Tom Hanks?)
Yes without a doubt one of the best movies based on King. Stand by me, Shawshank redemption and Dolores Claiburne are contenders. Perhaps Carrie and Misery
