I thought this book was outstanding! Definitely one of my top favs,it had it all wraped into onto one.id like for them to make a third book where jack gets to go back and let his friends know he still alive and have another adventure. I also liked how the talisman and blackhouse linked in with the dark tower stories as well, very interesting.

This is one of my top favorites. The first quarter of it was really hard for me to get into, but then it just transformed into this deep, incredible story with characters so richly written they could be real. Henry and Beezer are my favorite characters, people I'd love to meet if it were possible. And while I enjoy the Talisman, in my opinion it's nowhere near as good as Black House. This book should get a lot more credit.

I totally agree. This one made talisman so much better for me. Integral to the tower. I feel a third one coming that is going to be even more tied in. Speedy says, he may still have a roll to play in the tower yet.

I'm not quite done with BH yet but I am enjoying it more than the Talisman. And that's really saying something. I feel like this book never comes up in discussing his best books but I love it so far.

Maybe only Straub for a third in the Talisman/Black House series, but imho an sK/Koontz collaboration of any kind would be an incredible event.

If there were a third T/BH novel I would love a prequel about Jack's dad. Some of my favorite parts in Talisman were the sub chapters about Morgan and how Jack's dad showed him the Territories.

I'm not a Koontz basher but I agree with doowopgirl. Koontz stretches his ideas to the limits and not in a good way. Many of his books have unsatisfying endings and the antagonist is almost always picked from three of his favorite categories. I've enjoyed many of his stories but most are inflated and recycled. Having said that, he has surprised me on occasion with wonderful stories. He will never be able to copilot a book with King, IMO. Koontz has more money in his jeans pocket than I have in my bank account, probably, but sometimes his writing is so encumbered that it seems like he quotes endless synonyms from the Thesaurus in lieu of creating an authentic vision.
...I'll just take my hat in hand if you will show me the door. LOL.

I really enjoyed this one, have only read it once though and that was last year. I have one book left on my first Dark Tower journey and I've taken a break from it to try and make it last a bit longer lol. I remember tons from The Talisman but somehow don't remember much from this one. So I'm dying to re read it before I finish my DT journey. Does that seem like a good idea, or is that really not necessary before I read book 7 of the DT? I've heard a lot of people recommend reading this one and Insomnia before 7 so I thought I'd ask. Already re read Insomnia so its either this one next for a re read and a freshener or moving onto book 7!
