Did you watch It's a Wonderful Life this season?

I just finished The Goldfinch on Saturday (loved it!) Two of the characters were watching it and said the Buffalo Gals scene was the boring part. That is my favorite scene in the movie. "This is a very interesting situation!":D
I recorded it to watch as I have never seen it. Bits and pieces, but never have I sat down and just watched the whole thing. (I'm not even sure what the money issue is with Jimmie Stewart and why friends come to his aid, did he steal it?) Unfortunately, SOMEONE erased it! I'm going to see if I can track it down on youtube or something.

I have The Goldfinch in my TBR pile.

Watched Maximum Overdrive on IFC last night. Fun and entertaining, and it's got a great musical score. Always been a sucker for those campy 80's horror flicks, with Night of the Comet being my favorite.
I caught that also. I hadn't seen this film in ages. I loved it when came out at the theater, and it's still a great 80's horror flick. I had remembered hearing somewhere a long time ago that Mr. King didn't enjoy directing the movie very much or something like that? Ms. Mod, wasn't sure if that is accurate, if not, cry yours and Mr. King's pardon. But he did a helluva job on the movie I think. "Honey, this ATM just called me an A$$hole!"...that was great.

 Awww. I was hoping you'd gotten to see it! I remembered you had said you'd only seen bits and pieces. Hope you can find it. I am not going to tell you about the money, it will spoil it for you when you get to see it.

From what I heard him say about it recently, it was that he didn't know what he was doing and to complicate matters, most of the crew didn't speak English so made it that much more difficult.

I can see where that would complicate matters not being able to communicate with your crew. Well, either way, he made a helluva good movie. Noticed a few actors I hadn't remembered being in the movie last night. The guy that played the medical orderly "Barney" on Silence of the Lambs was the Happy Toyz truck driver if I remember correctly, J.C. Quinn from The Abyss and other movies. I'm going to have to hunt up Maximum Overdrive on DVD somewhere and buy it I think...

Personally, I think he did okay with the movie, and I enjoy it purely for it's entertainment value. It wasn’t Carrie by any stretch of the imagination, but I don’t think it was ever meant to be. I kinda look at it as SK having fun with the story. What did really irked me was the movie description on the channel listing. It stated (as best as I recall): "Stephen King’s self-described "moron movie," about …" What have they got against King? Many other directors have made movies that were not well received, and they don’t trash those directors in the movie descriptions. Hey, it still gets plenty of TV play after more than 25 years, while others don’t. So something has to be good and appealing about it.

Trucks driving themselves, violence, hot chicks armed with straight razors, rednecks with automatic weapons and rocket launchers.......It's almost like he made the movie for me...lol:)

I do remember him stating that someone (maybe the Director Of Photograghy) had to explain to him (King) why he couldn't film a scene a certain way (it was to do with showing how the truck's brake and gas pedal moved on their own) because the 'Point Of View' was going to be backwards for the audience and King didn't realize it. Hey, the guy's a writer, for Pete's sake! He did learn alot while filming it tho. It's not a bad film either way. I saw it in the theater when it premiered. It also boasts the screen debut of the second Mrs. Donald Trump (I forget her name). I don't think King has anything to be ashamed about. He did a better job than I could do!

There are so many, both movies and tv-series, that I watch over and over.
IT, of course
Let the Right One In
The Wrestler
Buffy (the series, not the movie)
Watchmen
Minority Report
Hellboy
Brokeback Mountain
A River Runs Through It
12 Monkeys
The Men Who Stares At Goats
No Country For Old Men
Terminator 2
Austin Powers (the 2 first)

I could just go on and on.

Just watched "While You Were Sleeping" with Sandra Bullock - a feel good romantic comedy
Yesterday I watched "Starman" with Jeff Bridges - another interesting one from the 80s.

Movies that I can stop the channel surfing, any time, any place, and watch:

The three Bourne movies with Damon.
Shawshank Redemption.
The Green Mile.
(I didn't include those last two as some forum suck-up. I truly can watch them any time. Great movies.)
Casablanca.
To Have and Have Not.
(I'm not a great Bogart fan, but I am a fan of great movies.)
Shooter. (Yeah, I know. It's a guilty pleasure. So shoot me.)(Nyuk!)

Movies that I won't watch on TV because they'll get chopped up either with censoring or commercials, but I'll plug in the DVD anytime to watch them for the 5,875th time:

Aliens.
LA Confidential, which as, to my reckoning, as close to a perfect movie as it gets.
T2.
Men In Black.
Independence Day, as silly and shallow as you can get, but so help me, we enjoy it every time.

Every now and then, we go back into watching Lord of the Rings all over again, in installments.
And we like revisiting the Harry Potter movies. Especially the Prisoner of Arkham Afghani Azahkban, or whatever that one was. With the time travel. My favorite of the series.

Okay - now it is me professing not to be a 'suck-up', but I must say I do like the way you write - there - I said it!
