It wasn't that bad. Well maybe it was. My wife tells me I have a love for cheesy movies. She's right.

Don't get me wrong I love cheesy movies too, and bad SK adaptations are almost a genre of their own which I like to indulge in. I find The Mangler and Cat's eyes almost delectable in how bad they are for example, they're fun to watch on that basis but I don't know what it was about Rose Red I couldn't even enjoy it like that, I guess it wasn't bad enough, lol, or it didn't catch me in the right mood.

Maybe that was it. I saw The Omega Man in 1974 at a local drive-in. I was six years old and I've been a fan of that movie ever since. I now own it on Blue-ray. My wife can't stand it.Just one of many cornball movies that occupy a special place in my heart.

I never heard of that one but thanks for the recommendation, I'll look it up, the title seems promising!

Wow. It's one of Chuck Heston's greatest movies. Forget that cheapo Ten Commandments or that low grade Ben Hur. The Omega Man and Soylent Green are his masterpieces. Oh and honorable mention goes to Airport 75 and Earthquake.

I agree. Love The Omega Man. I have it on my DVR as we speak, I think TMC showed it -- someone did anyway.

I loved the Saturday Night Live spoof on his Soylent Green declaration that... well... that would be a spoiler if I typed what he said..... let's just say they went through sequels all the way to Soylent Teal...

Loved Rose Red. Not a Doctor Who fan, but I get the Tardis reference. I am a fan of haunted house stories and that one is a cracker. Plus, you get SK as the pizza guy.
It was suspenseful and the characters were alright (although not fully developed and relying on old archetypes) but it wasn't scary to me. I liked the pizza guy scene, too. Hilarious.

Hmmm, I remember watching years ago but don't recall very much other than I really liked it at the time. Will put this on my "re-visit" list (I've already re-visited The Shining, Stand By Me, Pet Sematary, Christine and Salem's Lot '76).
