Hello,

Looking for some help to properly identify a copy of Thinner that I found recently.

I believe that this is a first edition, however, a lot of the information that should be there, is not. The dust jacket lacks a price and an code number; The copyright page lacks Library of Congress information; Missing the "First Printing, November, 1984" and code "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9" printed on copyright page.

What is also interesting is that the book only has 282 pages, which is the same page count as the UK release (which doesn't come out until, I believe, 1988), and NOT the 308 that usually accompanies the US version.

I have attached a few photos here in case someone might want to take a look.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You are correct! Would you like what's behind door #2 or what's in the box that Carol is showing?

Thanks for the welcomes AND all of the replies, everyone. I really do appreciate it.

My wife likes to frequent the local thrift stores, and I will often go with her and check out the books. When I saw this one, I thought it was on to something, but I guess I have been corrected. The one thing that threw me off was the lack of inclusion of a note mentioning that it was a book club edition, and the discrepancy in the number of pages. Oh well.

Thanks again for all of your help! And by the way, that was the FASTEST response time I have ever seen on a forum.

Til next time!!
