WHAT??! Have you seen him? I might faint.
No, not that I am aware. He looks different these days. He has book signings at a trendy book store that I shop in but I've never met him. In my former job I orchestrated writing/author events but I never invited him. Brain fart, right? LOL. I did have Carolyn Haines, Irene Latham, Vicki Lane, Kirk Curnutt, Michael Morris, Gwen Roland, John Mantooth and William Cobb. Mostly local writers.
On a separate note, I was fortunate to meet Fannie Flagg, Sue Monk Kidd, Silas House, Ron Rash, Adriana Trigiani, and Gin Phillips.

Yeah, you're west of me I think. I'm in Shelby and I think he's still in Jefferson county. I just say Birmingham because most people know where I'm talking about. Was he friendly?
Yup, just west of you! Have you ever been to 2nd and Charles in Hoover? That's where I've lucked up and found 3 of my 4 signed McCammon novels!

He was, though I really didn't say too much to him (I was nervous to be meeting him, of course!). But he seemed really kind. I think it was last summer or so, if memory serves.

Yeah 2nd and Charles is where I go all the time. I'm a regular. Let me know next time you go and I'll say hello. The 'trendy' bookstore is near by in Homewood. It's called the Alabama Booksmith (visit their website, it's cool) and they deal almost exclusively in signed, rare and collectible books. Mostly regional.
I will try to look for the next McCammon signing.

I've been lucky enough to have met Rick three times in the past. Each time he was the true Southern Gentleman, soft spoken, charming and attentive. The first time was at the World Fantasy Convention held in Seattle and it was great to actually speak with him for a few minutes. I also met the wonderful Hunter Goatley (goathunter) who is a member of the SKMB. At that time Hunter was the editor of 'Lights Out!' The Robert McCammon newsletter. I wish Rick would get out here to Seattle again!

There will be one in late May or early June, when Freedom of the Mask (Book 6 in McCammon's Matthew Corbett series) comes out.

Aw, shucks.... ;-) Thanks for the kind words, Dan! That was a great time!

One of my favorite descriptions also. I have that passage marked to be read at my memorial service.

I'm going to use the passage that Roland says in forest with Jake in DT VII.

I'm going to use part III and the epilogue of Pet Sematary. All of it.

I have not really considered what should be read at my service :question_pig:

Maybe just:

She gone

Now help yourselves to the free booze!

Guess I never really thought about it yet :shame_pig::cry_pig:

Loved it!
Especially how it ties in with the Dark tower world!
I just finished reading it for the 3rd-ish time last week. What a wonderful sad, scary, moving story.
I love Ralph so much, and Our Lois as well of course. And yeah, it's very tied to the Dark Tower Mythos. I love that too.
This link provides more information on other books that tie in to The Dark Tower and how.

SK said this book was stiff I think is how he described it or maybe it tried to hard. This and Rose Madder. I don't agree about Insomnia. It is one of my favorites.
I kept waiting for the DT books to close the loop. If memory serves, it wasn't until the last book that it did.
I agree - I liked Insomnia, too and I am one of those crazy people who actually enjoyed Rose Madder (a lot!).

While I did like Rose Madder, I still feel that it could have been a very powerful statement on abuse had King 'gone there' and if he had left out the supernatural element.
You're probably right about the abuse aspect - I am just a bit weird - I like supernatural and science fiction.
