I've listened to/read the DT series several times. I just finished Black House. My question is where does this fall in the DT series timeline. Because they were going to take Ty to Blue Heaven with Ted, it was before Song of Susannah. It seems like it happens before the beam breaking in Wolves. So some time during Wolves?

Also is the Big Combination the forge of the King?

I have Firth's DT Complete Concordance but I'm not finding these answers there.

Try our Bev's Bev Vincent book - he might very well reply and have the answer you are looking for.

Black House

BLAINE THE MONO: Blaine is a character from the DT novels The Waste Lands and Wizard and Glass. He is also mentioned in Black House. However he is not a character in that book. (Mentioned only)

BRAUTIGAN, TED: Ted Brautigan is a major character in the final Dark Tower novel, The Dark Tower. He plays a very important role in "Low Men in Yellow Coats," and “Heavenly Shades of Night are Falling,” both found in Hearts in Atlantis. Ted Brautigan is MENTIONED in “Why We’re in Vietnam,” and in Black House. (He is not a central character in either of these books.)

CAN-TAH: The carved turtle which Susannah Dean uses to mesmerize people in Song of Susannah. The can-tah are mentioned in Stephen King’s novel Desperation. In that book, the can tah (spelled without the hyphen) are ugly composite animals carved from stone. In the Dark Tower novels, they are good, not evil. The can-tah are also mentioned in Black House. (Judy Marshall mumbles this word while in a delirium.)

CHAMBERS, JAKE: Jake is a major player in The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wizard and Glass, Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, and The Dark Tower. He is mentioned in Black House.

DARK TOWER: The Dark Tower (the actual Tower, located in End-World) is mentioned in Black House.

DEAN, EDDIE: Eddie is a major player in The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, and The Dark Tower. Eddie Dean is referenced in Black House.

DEAN, SUSANNAH: Susannah Dean is a major player in The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, and The Dark Tower. She is also referenced in Black House.

DESCHAIN, ROLAND: As well as being the central protagonist of the Dark Tower novels, he is also mentioned in Black House.

FRENCH LANDING, WISCONSIN: Setting for Black House. It is mentioned in the Dark Tower novels.

HOSPITAL TENTS: A tent very like the hospital tent found in Little Sisters of Eluria appears briefly in Black House. The Little Sisters’ tent is not specifically named, but anyone who knows Stephen King’s work will catch the reference.

KA: In the Dark Tower novels, ka is the force of fate. It is also mentioned in Black House.

LEGION: In the 2003 version of The Gunslinger, Walter mentions the End-World creature known as Legion. In Black House, The Fisherman is called Legion.

OPOPANAX: This feather is found in Calla Bryn Sturgis. The word “opopanax” haunts Jack Sawyer in Black House.

PATRICIA THE MONO: Appears in Black House as well as the Dark Tower novels.

SPEAKING DEMON: The Speaking Demon which appears in The Waste Lands also appears in Black House.

TERRITORIES: Much of the action of The Talisman (and some of the action of Black House) takes place in a land known as The Territories. The Territories are mentioned in The Waste Lands.

Christ...do you think King will ever make a new DIRECTLY related Dark Tower book?
Jesus ...I hope so, even a few "pamphlets" would be nice.
Anything, that tells us something about the people.... after
Dinky, Tyler, Danni (RU girl) , Judy Damascus , The Cops Roland beat up in NYC,
the Vermont Friend, Jack Chambers mom(and dad), Charlie Mcgee (firestarter) , ...etc etc
, ...I really WANNA believe that Speedy Parker is the wizard MEARLYN , but I havnt finished
black house yet

I got the year, it was Richie Sexton's first year with Milwaukee Brewers,
2000, summer 2000. And its the same universe as "Rose Red".
--I think. This is a shared universe , shared between King and Straub
who had nothing to do with Rose Red, as far as a know.

....Straub had no involvement in Rose Red, but King did the scripting for the mini-series....

I just finished Blackhouse, if Speedy is NOT MEARLYN , then I want
King to explain who and what he is. King needs to explain Speedy's place
in the multi-verse

There is a scene where some men (good guys) are searching for a little boy in a huge, strange house,
and there's a bad guy whos hiding the boy,...
its all very VERY much like a scene in the darktower , with the boy Jack and a
strange old guy who talks funny, the guys name was Gasher.

the two scene are veeeryyyy similar

Curious thing is that - from what I recall - Parkus said that Jack would have an important role to fill in during Roland's final act. That, however, never came to fruition - pretty much like the boys from The Eyes of the Dragon.

I would guess around the time the Ka-tet were attacking the Devar-Toi.
I would say before then - we see by parkus's words that Roland has drawn his three already but that they are still distant from Algol siento because they were, dig, waiting for the Calvary- Roland and his three- but if they were close speedy would likely be less worked up about The danger Tyler represents to the tower. Also, as epic as the DT is, hasn't anyone else noticed that at some point the difficulty factor, previously rated at just shy of impossible, dropped for a time? I think maybe jack and the thunderers kicked the stilts out from under the crimson King so to speak - evidence - the comment Mr Munshun gives about Tyler having cake and coffee with the king "cake and coffee with the Abbalah" but by the time Roland and Suzy reach cassa Roi Russe ain't nobody home but us Uffis- the king has freaked out and decided to climb the outside of the Tower if he can't get in(probably as a big red spider, it'd be easier that way. )why? Jack broke his favorite toy and scared him.

I. Can't remember if that was before the 'thundering jack sawyer4' went into the furnace lands din tah or after- if it was before, he did fulfill that prophecy because they caused the big combination to be destroyed through Tyler, which allowed the remaining beams to last just long enough that the gunslingers could shut down blue heaven/ secure the deed to the lot with the Rose thus saving the dark tower and existence

You know after reading this I realized I distracted myself in the middle- lol I meant to say also that it had to after they drew jake in 'waste lands' but believe it was probably when they were getting close to river crossing- for some reason I feel like Aunt Talithas comment about the coming again of the white may have been a double meaning; think about how long it took for Roland and crew to reach mid world, then something changed, around the time of river crossing changed - good food and a fast forward, considering how fast they got through Lud and then how fast Blaine traveled with them. Then I guess I do think there's a question on the glass palace- was this done at the crimson kings command? It seems a silly waste of power, the sort of thing the guy in charge does when the boss is away- we know Randall Flagg had some part of it. Maybe he was basicly the top at that point till baby mordred came around. If the king did this it would seem to say he's still got plenty of power maybe the big combination is still up but if it's just Flagg then I'd say it happened earlier as I said. maybe around the time they found oy.
