I really enjoyed this thread. I also just sobbed at the end. I never do that when I read. Mr. King seems to avoid the romance genre, but romances in this and other novels (The Dead Zone) are so moving. Too, I have often thought his women are so great, which assists the whole romance thing.

I finished the audio book yesterday (May 1st) and yes it was emotional. I still feel emotional today!
I like a good long book that has great characters and this is definitely that kind of book. BUT and its a big but, I have never been affected by a book like 11.22.63 before. As a 52 year old bloke, is that bad? Should I bee affected like this?
The problem is, how can I follow this book? I have never come across such an emotional end, and I feel like I have lost some good friends. I can always go back down the rabbit hole and dance once more

Welcome. I felt the same after reading it the first time. Regardless of your age or gender there is nothing wrong with feeling that way. I don't know how to follow that one. Something will occur. And you can always go down the rabbit hole again.

Thanks for the welcome doowopgirl. I am already back in 1958, Jakes about to discover Al... let the dance continue and the pound cake be sweet.

That makes a nice change. On most SK sites I've been on you'd think it was the only thing he'd done (well that and Kubrick's The Shining). If I see one more pic of Tim Curry as Pennywise I'll scream.

...moments like this are to be cherished.....

After watching the mini-series of 11/22/63, I had tears silently dropping off my eyeballs... I wish Sadie Dunhill agreed to settle with Jake and abandon the mission.

Funny thing is.. I miss Jake's mustache because i think he was better off with it and even though i dislike Lee Oswald, I love the song he whistled at the end of episode 7 - Soldier Boy by The Shirelles, I even downloaded the song just to listen to it over and over again.
I like Bill.. he's a go-getter (when it comes to beautiful ladies) :) .

The most important thing i think Mr King wants us to know is that people have to make big sacrifices sometimes, even at the expense of their happiness.

It will take a while before i forget about Jake and Sadie, hopefully i will find the Diner and walk to the past.

I was emotional at various times reading this book as well. This is one of my favorite King books already. Just finished it a few days ago.
I thought the ending was perfect, given what happened in his trip back to the past.
I also have to say, 1958-1963 America sounds a lot better than the present. (At least through the eye of King, but I suspect in reality as well.)
This is from someone not born at that time.

Was anyone else emotional? I just finished the audio book yesterday evening. I had to sit in my driveway for 15 minutes after my commute home because I couldn't wait to finish!

After listening to the story for two weeks, I felt so emotionally invested. I was sad the story was over and my time with Jake complete. I found the ending to be bittersweet...

I read the alternate ending someone posted a link to in another thread... I have some questions about that! I was confused.

Does anyone else mourn a book sometimes, once you have completed the story? I hope one day Mr. King re-visits Jake and Sadie. I like when a character I love gets a continuation of their story.

Also, does anyone want to go dancing? :)

Was quite surprised at how I felt after just finishing this novel. I have to run out and get another book to get my mind off of the book.

Yes to all of this. So much (well, maybe not the dancing part, I'm not a good dancer, haha). Hell I registered specifically for a place to vent pretty much these exact feelings. I was highly emotional after reading this, especially with the bittersweet ending. I know I love characters when I have that type of response, and I always love King's characters. In this case though, I think it was mostly Sadie. I just took to her and her love for Jake so much. Loved Jake too but I dunno, Sadie for some reason resonated just a bit more. That hidden strength that only showed itself at certain times at first, but was always there, and how it eventually shone through magnificently in some way regardless the timeline. As for her and Jake, it was to the point I was desperately hoping for some way they could go wherever it was the Card Men came from or something, just so they could be together and not screw up reality while doing it.

But yeah, there's just some characters that touch you and pull at your heartstrings more than most. For me one of those characters is now Sadie Dunhill.

Oh dear, please forgive me if that last line of the first paragraph is too spoilery. I didn't think it was as I typed but now that I read it, while not a huge revelation I don't want to ruin anything for anyone. I can't tag it myself because the grace period has ended.

I also just wanted to add that it was cool to read that others had this type of emotional reaction upon finishing the book. There was a mix of happiness in part due to the bittersweet ending and what it revealed, but also sadness for the same reason, then on top of that sadness that I'd finished the book. I just kinda lay dumbfounded for a while before I could fall asleep. Its not the first time I've been moved like this from literary works, but at the same time not the norm either to feel this much. Kudos, Mr. King. I've been a fan since I was a teen and after a while away, one novel in and I remember why.

Since the title of this thread, "Emotional after FINISHING." people must assume there are spoilers. I wouldn't read a thread about finishing a book knowing there would be talk that would be spoilers, if I hadn't finished the book.;;D
