I know that the majority of readers and SK himself don't particularly like this book, but to be honest, this is one of my absolute favorites. I love how much the town of Haven becomes a character itself, it's a very similar feelings to how much of a character Derry is in It. I think the feeling of dread and unknown throughout this book is incredibly powerful and it's one of the few SK stories to truly terrify me the whole way through.

Anybody else have positive feelings towards this story?

The only two members, that I remember, who really praise this book are AchtungBaby and myself. There may be more. Even with its short comings, I loved it. Out of his 60+ novels it belongs in my top 20. The Bobbi and Gard relationship feels genuine and complex. I've always liked the vivid images it evokes of rural Maine (like Pet Sematary) and this novel is a touchstone in weirdness for the King enthusiast.

I loved it! I can defend this statement with a beautifully executed endorsement summarizing the style and intrigue, and Twilight Zoneesque thrills it contains, but I'm not being paid to do so and I've also had a "nip". I would rehash the plot in detail but I don't feel like dealing with all of the
the dog was one of my all time favorite SK dogs. The concept of implied extra terrestrial groupthink combined with our own technology and social groups turning against us was so far ahead of its time; no wonder it wasn't understood

No fair, you wrote that sober!! I agree and I was thinking the same thing (the last time I read it). "Touchstone in weirdness for the King enthusiast"!!
 That ought to be written down somewhere. I'm launching an SK anthology and course for college students one day, care to collaborate?

I'm 32% Irish. Dammit! I should have an Irish accent. Where's my Irish accent!!!o_O
Okay but we were not part of Canada until the 1940's. Half the folk were English and half were Irish. So the accents remain till today. Ask Neesy. Her Scottish husband cannot tell between a Newfoundlers or an Irishman.....paddy. lol
