What led for the inspiration regarding "The Stand" novel?

Well see, please excuse this rhetoric if it becomes offensive. First, if one proposes for query, then a "lawyers pun" should have one reason to believe there's an answer by virtue--but can it be just a good guess? Second, and most essential, and without any argue here, can one propose for entertaining the idea on its inspiration, in time, and in place, and in-being and as it is written, in "The Stand," by Stephen King origins from the 'AIDS' epidemic in fancy, and in a fictitious, business, proposal, lexicon model? Last, but not least, and as a formal fact check, does the sum for "3" and "2" equal "5?" Thank you, and please have a good day.

Mr. King has addressed his inspiration for The Stand a few times. The one I remember best is that he read about a release of a virus (my mind is saying anthrax, but I could be wrong there) from a military facility in UT. The wind was blowing south, so it just killed a bunch of sheep, but Mr. King started thinking about what might have happened if the wind had been blowing the other way and it hit Salt Lake City. Birth of an idea and a great novel :)

As for the rest... no idea, dude. Three and a half cups, maybe?

I think I remember reading there were several sources of inspiration. The plague and the fall of society were inspired by an outbreak of swine flu in the 70s that was closely related to the flu virus of 1918 and which it was feared would cause a similar pandemic (which, obviously, didn't happen), plus the novel Earth Abides, which describes a similar scenario of a disease wiping out most of humanity. The black and white good vs evil Flagg vs. Free Zone aspect was inspired by Lord of the Rings.

I believe the character of Randall Flagg emanated from a freewriting session of Stephen's. He couldn't finish The House on Value Street, a novel that was essentially a roman-a-clef of Patty Hearst's kidnapping by the SLF. Stephen apparently typed the words "Donald Defreeze is a dark man", and ran with it. In doing so, he gave birth to one of the most evil villains in the history of fiction.

And my all time favorite literary villain ever. Welcome Robert!!

He has also said (in addition to what you said) he was driving through Nebraska and turned the radio dial to one of those fire and brimstone sermons. He heard the line "And once a generation a plague will fall among them," and boom.
